If you get bad options to hire at the beginning, you can always just restart the level and get a new full list of staff - it is up to you if you think that is fair/cheating. You can also look through the rejects to see if they have something you would like to train a good candidate. Sometimes you get lucky and this will be cheaper than hiring an outside trainer, but will probably slower to do the training. You then fire the reject trainer after the course is completed. Hire this reject trainer at the beginning of the month, if lucky the course can be completed before the end of the month and all you pay is the small hiring cost. If you need/want to train multiple courses concurrently but don't want two dedicated rooms, you can always copy the training room, do the training, then sell the extra room. This of course means you need the space to do so and the funds to build the copy in the first place, but wont cost you anything. You can also abuse the sell room by making a mega training room, plopping down all the +training stuff you can, running the training and then sell the room.

Handy tip if your deep into the game, use one of your early hospitals as a research hospital. Train staff in research and any projects carry over. Pin star your should do a video on this as Xbox currently has a large influx of players

I wish there was an option to just buy a more expensive bookcase that does the power of 10 for the cost of say the price 12 of them. Even though I love min maxing, It just feels wrong to just mass spam items to clutter rooms.
@Pinstar
4 жыл бұрын
The clutter is part of the cost. These items eat floorspace in addition to money to pay for their benefit. To that end, I do agree that it would be nice to have a big FAT, huge-footprinted item that would have 10x the effect, cost 10x as much and take up 10x the space so you don't have to mass-plop so many things.

You *do* have costs associated with having trainees but it's obviously far less than *immediately* building up the hospital. The Oklahoma design *is* expensive but is worth and I often can train out *two* GPs right away before the first patient is anywhere near rage-quitting. I also add in a marketing room with at least one assistant to give me a bit more of a boost to possibly getting a good third doctor. The game is friendly in that it sells everything for the cost so rooms can be just as easily be built and sold.

The start of a map can be a game of patience. You can filter out all the worst employees, keeping the one best one on the list, until you find good employees at multiple positions so you can hit the ground running. Only problem is it’s completely random and will take time.
@Pinstar
4 жыл бұрын
A marketing room can help grind out the randomness. By doing a generic doctor or nurse campaign it makes new applicants appear faster. You'll eventually get someone good, or at least a 0 skill student whom you can train into whatever you want.

My main issue with staff is not finding the right doctors/nurses for the diseases that are coming into the hospital, forcing me to send a lot of patients home, especially at the beginning. In marketing, the "specialised" campaigns for doctors don't seem to work that well, as I do not get that many more with the chosen skill.
@apostolist3367

It's good to send them home. It drops your reputation, you receive fewer patients and are able to treat them better, until of course you advance.

Really old post. But.... I don't think this will be beneficial a lot of the time as the guest trainer always has a boosted speed stat for training. I suppose you could be lucky and hire a person just to train who had the boosted trainer stat. Then get them to train someone in under a month. Then fire them. But you'd still pay the hiring fee even if you don't pay their wages. Given the guest trainer costs 10k and the average hiring fee is 2k I believe. Your really shaving bark off the branch with this tactic. Maybe if the helipad is 20km from your start building?

Currently working my way through all your videos - which are great by the way. I'm wondering given console releases (Xbox1 player here), which tips would you say don't work so well on console compared to pc or are they all still viable? I have no idea what is different between the versions hence wondering if all the tips are applicable. Hopefully my question makes sense as it 02:21, I've been telling myself "just one more video" for the past two hours!

Following my own comment up, so on the xb1, if a room placement depends on being able to move the door, it may not be viable as unfortunately you can not disable the grid snap for doors. Super annoying. The loo by 4 doesn't work due to this, which means the mosh pit has to be adjusted. I got the original power ward to work fine but haven't tried the updated one yet.

Thanks for the video as always. I always start with this gambit, and lately I've been using marketing from the beginning to recruit my staff members as well. Add in using research to finish projects that are 99% completed by high level researchers at a different hospital (about 150k per trip between hospitals with all four research projects from DLC included) and it makes the whole "diagnosing and treating patients" thing to be an unnecessary inconvenience and a distraction from my task of recruiting and training my permanent staff. Lol

That hiring tactic is really smart! But can you expand on why you put your training rooms near the helipad? I always put my training, research and marketing on the furthest sites, saving the space surrounding the helipad for clinics and other treatment rooms that would have patients roll in on emergency....
@Pinstar
4 жыл бұрын
When training with a guest trainer, they always arrive via helipad. Putting the training room near the helipad will reduce their walk time and thus get them training sooner. This becomes less important later on when more and more of your trainings are done internally by your staff so your 2nd training room doesn't need to be near the helipad if there is a more logical spot for it elsewhere.

Nice vid - one thing though is the reference to "polluted" skills. I noticed in your extended stream playthrough you were making lots of snap decisions on hiring candidates whether they were "polluted" or not. Now I can infer that this is from mismatched skills, but do you have a vid exploring this in further detail?

It's what you guessed, i.e. having mixed skills. You have 5 slots for skills and they typically max at level 5 (which takes up all 5 slots). "Polluted" skills prevent you from fully maxing a skill, whereas you usually want each member of staff to be highly competent at a single thing (and assign that member of staff to work on that one thing). It isn't a requirement by any means, but it can help. A possible partial exception is that there are some skills with only a single level that give a bonus to working in a specific type of room, in which case you could use that with level 4 of a more generalised but still related skill.
