Always my favorite part of those stories, better throw a way your only potential chance of survival. I mean yeah I reckon every sane being would try to cause a distraction for survival. It’s not a wendigo story but it was a creature i’ve never seen. I had a sleepover at a friends house that was near the woods. His parents had recently divorced and he lived mostly with his mom. At the sleepover we played some games while his mom was downstairs talking to her boyfriend. When we ate dinner his mom suggested that me and my friend should take a small hike along a path into the woods she had taken earlier that day. It was late summer in middle Sweden so it wasn’t dark yet. We agreed and headed down the path. About 1 km into the woods my friend started messing with me since I was a shy and easily scared. After another kilometer the path was getting wider and was going up and down. We where just talking when we heard the sound of something sprinting to our left about 20 m in front of us. We stop and suddenly a bird flies for it’s life to close to the ground diagonaly across the path. 1 second later something that looks like a bear but smaller and thinner runs to the right side of the path towards the bird, and it stops at the edge of the forest and I think it ate the bird. It was hard to know because it was getting dark. Then it turns towards us with it’s skinny face and stands still. We didn’t take a chance to look at what it was, we just ran the path back to my friends house, Though he got in 30 seconds before me since he was a fast runner and I was pretty slow at the time. That was the last time I was in that house and luckily he moved a couple of months later. Edit: Wow, I just clicked on this video unknowingly that I had commented on it
