My former boss bought one (more simplistic) back in the day. Sometimes the wax buildup can irritate the ear canal and flushing it can be painful. People who work in dusty environments tend to have more build up. Some is sometimes hard as a rock (eg. cement dust + ear wax). One guy went on a motorcycle trip Sunday. Halfway through he kept hearing buzzing sounds in his ear. He promptly showed up monday morning and we flushed out lots of wax and a fly🪰.

I got an ear irrigation once. The doctors sprayed water in my ear with so much force, it felt personal lol. I was visibly uncomfortable with the feeling. a doctor in training was there watching the whole thing, and he saw me constantly flinch and asked if it hurt. I said "no, it's just REALLY uncomfortable". Once i got home i felt really wierd. I ended up falling asleep in the daytime, which is something i NEVER do. When i woke up, everything was SO loud. My family was working on something, which made it even louder. I remember feeling so gloomy and wierd, i just went back to bed and hoped i would feel better when i woke up again. I dont remember how long it took but i think it took a few days for me to feel back to normal. I hope i never have to go again. But on a positive note, i was very glad i finally had clean ears. My ears had bothered me for almost a week and gave my headaches and made me feel so nausus, i kept waking up every night feeling so dizzy and nausus, so it was nice to finally have that end. In the UK it is no longer practice to irrigate blocked ears Irrigation of the ear can lead to otitis externa, vertigo, perforation of the tympanic membrane, and middle ear damage if the tympanic membrane is perforated. In Japan I went to an ent clinic and the doctor looked old and the equipment too, he put some medicine in my ears to soften the impacted wax, waited for like 30 minutes. Then he proceeded to use his tools inside my ear, it was hurting a lot, after taking the impacted wax from one ear, he told me that he couldn’t retrieve the impacted wax from the other ear, so I would have to make another appointment. I left with a very sore ear canal and one plugged ear. The next day I decided to look for another clinic. This time the clinic looked better and so did the equipment. The doctor used the same machine from this video, and the whole wax came after 10 minutes and without pain.

I had this done YOUNG! Like 10 or 11 & I’m telling you I had tried everything. Laying on the hot concrete in the middle of summer with my bad ear facing ground. It was crazy! But after I had this done it felt soooo good that I really wanted to have it done again but my Dr. was like No you don’t have build up or anything now why would you want to do that? It felt so good at the time, so much relief and as others said improved hearing etc. but I’m told since I don’t need it done it won’t have the same effect. But that’s really the only thing I can compare to people that chase a first feeling of a drug of some sort is getting my ears cleaned. I do get kits & Chase the dragon at home but like they said it’s not as good.

I've had this done a few times. It's such a relief when it finally clears up after a few days. And your ears are so clean afterwards, it's almost like you've got superhero hearing for an hour or so until your brain adjusts to the new sound level.
@chaoswitch1974

So what causes it? Is it the shape of your ear? The texture of your ear wax or do you not clean them enough? I feel like I go through so many q-tips. I clean my ears multiple times a week. No idea what normal is though.
@bjornkeizers
3 ай бұрын
@@chaoswitch1974 Earwax has a specific function. It's is kind of like the 'cleanup crew' for your ear canal. Wax protects your ear by trapping dust, debris, and other things that might get into your ears. Usually, this earwax-garbage takes care of itself: with your jaw movement, like chewing and talking, you move this earwax from your ear canal to the outside of your ear. That's why you'll sometimes find earwax on the outside of your ear. Earwax buildup can happen for a variety of reasons. Sometimes there's just a bit too much of, which can cause a blockage. Your ear canal is really quite small, so it only takes a very small amount to cause a blockage. The shape of your ear canal can also be a factor. For me personally, I get blockages only in my right ear, not so much the left. It's perfectly natural and not a sign of poor ear hygiene for example. One thing that causes it is actually using Q-tips: that agitates your ear and makes it think there's something to clean up... which causes it to prduce more earwax. That's also why doctors tell you not to use Q-tips in your ear, only on the outside. You also risk puncturing your eardrum. If you use things like in-ear earbuds, that can also agitate wax production for the same reason. If you feel like you've got too much wax buildup and it's annoying, you should talk to your doctor about getting your ear irrigated like this. Q-tips really aren't helping.

Be careful doing this at home or with a physician who doesn't do this often. I got my ear flushed once by a primary care physician and instead of coming out, the plug went further in and trapped water behind it giving me a bad ear infection. @@willie123811 they just called it ear flushing/ear irrigation when I went to the doctor. He was talking like he never was deaf. Apparently there was beans lodged in his ears and a membrane of skin covered them. Parents thought it was from the crop dryer and he was never thoroughly checked. Fast forward 2001: my son wasn’t talking good found out he was deaf in one ear, taught him sign language and read lips,my friend from school saw me signing with my son (now 5/6) in a store and started signing to him, he told my son “your mom knows sign language because she never wanted me to be forgotten or left out when we were kids, you are so loved, because she’s really good at signing now because of you!” My son used to say, “We saw Mom’s imaginary friend…at the store” and I was like WTH, apparently I got imaginary friends I don’t even know yet. Ahhh!! A fellow audiophile!😂 Although, I do have to say one thing about Bose speakers… they are THE reason I can afford to own my entire speaker/stereo collection because women made their husbands AND even fathers get rid of their awesome sounding full-sized towers and get those tiny cubes with its “subwoofer” instead!! I’ve bought stuff off of Craigslist, OfferUp, and especially the old Bargain Trader (in paperback form) that men normally would NEVER sell because it sounded soooo good, but went with the Bose cubes because they sounded better than hearing the wife’s constant bitching. Also, there are a few old school Bose that ACTUALLY sound good, especially like the 501 Series IV (10” woofer and a double cube twiddler, all tucked behind the grill… handled 150 watts RMS) and the 601 Series II & III (two 8” woofers and two double cube twiddlers in EACH cabinet! Handled 200 watts RMS!!). Sure, they could have used higher-end drivers for the mids/highs (ie. the 2 1/2” twiddlers) instead of just cheap paper ones that probably only cost $5 each, but they actually sound really darn good the way they are as is… always wanted to experiment with using some old EMIT tweeters from Infinity speakers and mounting one directly above each 2 1/2” and the crossing them over properly. While crossing them over so the 2 1/2” do not play up too high, I might as well upgrade the entire crossovers with higher grade electronics. Was also even considering using the Infinity poly-dome midrange as well and just eliminate the twiddlers entirely, but then I should just swap out those cheap, paper 8” woofers for the Infinity 8” Watkin’s woofers with much stiffer plastic cones. …. Then, I came to my senses!😂😂😂 It would then be basically an Infinity speaker within a Bose cabinet, so why not just buy an Infinity speaker and be done with it??😂 Those certain Bose speakers have REALLY GOOD bass, especially compared to their other speakers, and sound “good enough” for the average person but they were SEVERELY overpricing their later model double cube series because women/wives/girlfriends DO NOT MIND spending their man’s money to get what they want!😂 Whomever came up with that marketing strategy was a freaking genius!! Bose got famous back in the early to mid 80’s for their larger speakers (like mentioned above) because they sounded really darn good due to having large/multiple woofers, but when they started selling the separates (double cubes) their business sales EXPLODED!! You don’t know how many times I’ve bought used speakers and often their associated equipment from guys who were almost in tears because their wife was “making them sell it”.😂 I don’t feel bad one bit because these men had no balls… couldn’t even stand up to their wives and say “Uh, I don’t think so, sweetie. You’ll go before my Altec 604c’s go anywhere!”😂😂 So, Bose…in a sense, created the first “simps”!!😂😂😂😂😂 They must’ve come up with that other saying as well…”Happy wife = Happy life” 😂😂😂😂😂

A coworker had this done. The tech used too much pressure, blew a hole in his ear drum. He was taken by ambulance to ER. Now he has 90% hearing loss

I think an ENT Dr. is the better way to go. My mom sees one regularly due to profound hearing loss (hearing aid tests/updates) and to have her ears cleaned. She produces a lot of wax. I like that there's a camera and lots of control involved. I'm so sorry that your coworker had that happen.

Sad. My brother had his ears cleaned when he was a kid. He would scream when it was being done. 😢

I had 65% of my ear drum missing for over a year and I had nowhere near 90% hearing loss, so I find that hard to believe.

It is actually kinda satisfying: like that water stream is scratching the very eardrum itself! Oof, goosebumps 😊

I can’t imagine how awful it must be for people that have hearing loss due to this build up. Having perfect hearing but now suffering vertigo I didn’t realise how I took my hearing for granted.

You are absolutely right. I feel the same way. Vertigo is the worst, and my ears had no wax. SMH.

Makes me imagine poor doggos with waxy ears needing the same help 🥺 Do vets do this?

Yes, we clean dogs’ ears at the vet if it’s necessary

There's videos of similar procedures on dogs but you can get over the counter ear wash (like Zymox). I warm the bottle a bit to make it more comfortable for my dog, put a few drops on back of your hand to test.

Decades ago we used a waterpic and an emisis basin. This works so much better, plus being able to see inside the ear like that. One old lady could hear so well after years of thinking she was losing her hearing, we had to use some cotton balls to help quiet the volume a little till she got used to it.

My ears clogged once, on a saturday evening. I had to endure a whole day without hearing and it slowly drove me into depression. As the doctor flushed my ears on monday it was such a relief. SInce that day I don't use q-tips anymore and never had that problem again. These things are just not ment to be inside ears.
