Every club in Dallas played the hell out of this song in 1994. Dance music for sure.

Should react to the original version before Todd Terry got a hold of it to see the big different on EBTG style of music was before this.

Usually appreciate a remix but on this one the original version is better. In this mix they overlaid the edit over the original video. All they did was throw the simplest most common house beat over top of it, and that's exactly what it sounds like. Glad to see you caught that Ty and called it out. For examples of what electronic dance music could do in the late 80's and early 90's before and without resorting to what became a mainstream radio house beat check out 808 State - Pacific 202 (and any any mix, remix, edit, dub or remake thereof), Antiloop - Nowhere to Hide, and for how even classical music can be remade into dance/rave without resorting to the same old same old check out Apotheosis - O fortuna.

It's important not to forget that this was a remix, and the original song was indeed a ballad. They explored and polished their electronic sound in their 1996 album, Walking Wounded. That album is where they became an electronic duo. It's worth checking it out, because there you can see a more consistent electronic-ballad balanced sound, as the songs were created under an electronic music mindset.

I watched this again. And I was like, “ What is next Counting Crowes Mr Jones? or Collective Soul December or REM Losing My Religion?” It just became ‘mid 1990’s good song and memorable.’

EBTG always seemed a tad detached, even with ballads. The original Missing has more development as a song.

This IS / WAS a ballad. The house beat was added later by Todd Terry. Both versions were released. The ballad on the album only, I think.

I feel this is more of a chill out song. Not every song has to have a hook, you can just be into listening to a don't want it kind of hints at liking it. You have to remember that with this song, which I do believe was the single or radio version, it was a remix by a house DJ, and so it almost sounds like a sample even though I don't think it is. It's not one you would be going crazy on the dancefloor to, even though I do remember dancing to it. Another song from maybe a little later than this that you might like to check out (which also had an interesting video) is Roger Sanchez's Another Chance and for a bit more energy Delerium (ft. Sarah McLachlan) - Silence for an introduction to the Trance genre (I don't think you've done any of that yet).

It’s good - but their earlier pre crossover is better / don’t leave me behind, from the stars shine bright is pure class. I agree with your son - it’s not the intro track. Like Sally Cinnamon is a better into to the stone roses. Like how you two react.

Funny, I can’t listen to the other sound by them, makes me yawn. I feel they are synth god/goddess of the 90’s and satisfied my longing for new wave long gone by then.
