Band members all swapped roles when miming this. Drummer Ped miming guitar, bassist Mark is on drums and guitarist Nash is on bass.

Love this album! And the 12”s! Still have my Frankie Say War pin! Their cover of War was a classic. Super funky. I wanted to learn to play bass so badly back then. 🤣

Yes, was more successful...9 weeks at UK no 1......Also, not hard, but so prophetic, given war in Ukraine and energy crisis.

For Ty: This album was one of many smash hits in the 80s produced by Trevor Horn. Definitely look him up! For Dad: I stumbled across this a few months ago and was blown away! Holly Johnson turned down the gig at the last minute, so I thought it would suck. I WAS WRONG! kzitem.info/news/bejne/oph5q3pqrIuEnI4

They had to change the rules on how uk music charts were calculated due to this song. The released numerous remixes that kept it at number 1 for weeks. After, they only allowed a limited number of versions to count towards the chart position

Useless trivia Holly Johnson the lead singer of Frankie Goes to Hollywood was in a band/performance group called Big In Japan that had a bunch of people in it like Bill Drummond (KLF) lots of them went on to become record producers and the like.

The bass, drums, orchestral sounds were all the Fairlight C.M.I IIx. J.J. Jeczalik and Trevor Horn did the programing and playing of the Fairlight. This was a typical Top Of The Pops lip-synch/ mimed performance. You should check out J.J. Jeczalik and Trevor Horn's band called The Art Of Noise Beat Box, Close To The Edit, Legs , Peter Gun and Moments In Love are great songs by The Art Of Noise

For all you American cousins, here’s a US link to this song for you. When American football landed on our U.K. TV screens in ‘85, this was our Channel 4 NFL results theme song. Two Tribes go to war…fitting 👍🏼

@@reactionextraction I think that was the first game to be played here in the U.K. 86? Channel 4 coverage started in 82. Not sure what the first game was, but the first game I watched was LA Raiders. Which is why I’m a fan to this day. 😂

It's wow now. Always has been, always will be. Trevor Horn is a production god, and his arrangements are just mind boggling. He produced Yes 90125, ABC, Art of Noise, and his own band, a duo of himself and Geoff Downes, The Buggles, had the very first video ever shown on MTV: 'Video Killed the Radio Star'. Way, way, WAY ahead of his time.
