It's a simple pupa, but when a good tyer ties it with the right material, it has a wonderful sense of life. Cream

Now it looks like I have to find my bead cord. I picked some up at a craft store while killing time waiting for my young daughter to shop. They even had some with fine sparkles in it. Since some of them are translucent, you could get some really nice effects. I was thinking of translucent chartreuse over fluorescent red for a "tomato core" colored body. I never did get around to tying them; now it looks as though I'll have to. Thanks for another great video.

Hi Davie, Love the videos! Have made learning to tie flies so much easier and I definitely think a few of your patterns will work here in Australia. Is There any chance you could do a pattern for a deer hair cicada? Chasing Aussie natives like Bass the cicada is key lure but there aren't many good patterns for them. All the best and look forward to more videos. Colin

Hi Colin, A friend sent me a photo of a real Cicada fly for me to try and copy which I did using Deer Hair but someone said it was their pattern so I deleted it as I have no time to argue over a fly so I'm sorry to say it's one of those patterns I keep away from..I'm glad you enjoy the videos and thank you very much for your kind words... All the very best Davie

Davie McPhail I understand. Bit silly to be offended by someone making a fly similar to there's since we're all copying the same bugs but anyway... If you were to make up your own version, what materials would you be likely to use for the wings and body?

Hi Sir Megallot, I'm sorry I didn't realise I had missed out the body materials and I'm surprised you are the first to notice..I used 0.8mm Stretch Beading Cord, you can buy it in a few colours though I would say I use the clear more than any as you can colour it or simply wind it over your thread, dubbing or even tinsel to get the colour you are looking for... Hi max man, I have used the 0.8mm on buzzer and mayfly nymphs size 10s, 12s and 14s at a push but if I was going smaller I would use the 0.4mm... All the very best Davie..
