@UmpquaFeatherMerchants Signature Tyer and owner of Living Waters Fly Fishing, Chris Johnson sits down at the vise to teach you his Mimic Hopper!
Not all hoppers are designed to carry the weight of a bead-headed nymph behind them. Some hoppers are built simply to effectively imitate a real grasshopper that has landed in the water. Those real life specimens ride low and have lots of movement as they work to stay afloat in the water. This lightweight imitation mimics that type of delicate presentation and movement. When you encounter fish tight to the bank sipping on dries and your standard mule dry just won’t get them to rise, give the Mimic Hopper a try.
