Ive been using your videos for my insatiable need for creepy masks. Ive worked with people from England...I was in commercial printing for over 20 years and my pressman was from Lester....and the machinist that maintained our presses... was from Liverpool... I've had friends from England...I love your English accent...Today...I purchased an ShMS gas mask....Im completely over run with emotion...Ive been searching the internet for filters and I see Im very limited in my choices....But what I did find was an adaptor that allows me to use NATO threads....I GOT THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS....THANK YOU FOR YOUR WISDOM

Just bought a Norwegian mask the other day. I wondered why the filter (a dräger co-p2) didn't fit, could only get it in about a half rotation. On the other hand it fit perfectly with the OM-14 mask. But the filter should fit the Norwegian mask, as it has Scandinavian instructions on it...

Thanks for your explanation of threads. You don 't have a video for pre filters do you? I've seen them somewhere before but I don't know if they are standard or where to buy them or what. I'm in an environment where particulates clog my P3 filter quickly. Some guys have proprietary non canister PAPR systems and they have pre filters. I want some for my canister based PAPR.

2 questions. 1.Is it safe to have gp5 filters (For example) open with the screw and the bottom plug not on? 2.Are czech m10/m or polish mp4/b or bulgarian cheek filter mask are those filters safe?
@j.d.ethridge2162

1. As long as you do not disturb the filter, like shake it around, you should be ok. 2. I don’t think they have asbestos in them, but if charcoal leaks definitely don’t use them.

In your opinion, what is the best, cheap surplus gas mask?
@Weaponsandstuff93
6 жыл бұрын
Depends on what country you are in as to what masks are easily available as surplus. For good Surplus masks you're going to probably want to pay a minimum of £30, at that price, Avon S10, Israeli 4a1 or M15.

Nato filters themselves are the 40mm thread, but a typical NATO CBRN filter protects from Chemical, Biological, Radiological/Nuclear threats.

So RD40 is basically the same as 40mm nato? I can find proper, new dräger A2B2E2K2HgP3 or A1B2E2K1HgNOP3 filters for like 15€-20€. i can't find non expired 40mm nato for anything close. Theres only the couple years expired ones on ebay really that are cheaper, and not even by much. Is there anything that makes military filters better?
@Weaponsandstuff93
6 жыл бұрын
No military filters are normally just ABEP3 or ABEKP3.
@anitaleroy9442

I guess they are based on the industrial models, but rated for protection against military agents, unused in industrial fields (acid gases, ammoniac, mercury, radioactive stuffs ...) neurotoxics and all the spectrum, which is classified. The civil defense respirators for civilians were either fit with military filters (WWW1-2, soviet era) or now for terrorist training in emergency hazmat teams - firemen, police, nurses - with industrial filters. So ... must be looked further.
@jort93z
6 жыл бұрын
ABEKHgNOP3 should protect you from all the things abek protects you plus mercury vapours and nitrogen oxides. Since its is a trustworthy brand i wouldn't doubt it does, but i was wondering wether the industrial filters were any less robust, reliable or something like that.

Was there any standard for WWI filters? I recall that the German masks (Gummischutzmaske and Lederschutzmaske) used 40mm filters, but I'm not sure of the relation to 40mm NATO or the 40mm filters used by Nazi Germany.
@Weaponsandstuff93
5 жыл бұрын
Nazi Germany used the precursor to 40mm NATO, so some NATO and normalised filters fit on German WW2 masks, as for German WW1 filters I think they were an obscure measurement.

Chinese masks, available now on the bay at low costs, either compatible with 3M bayonet or "40mm" thread - which thread ??? the GOST yet, even with the so -called "Russian" masks (copies or originals ???) or the industrial standard 1348??? thanks
@Weaponsandstuff93

Chinese masks seem to have "normalised" threads, meaning NATO and GOST 40mm filters should fit them. As for the 3M style ones I assume they will take regular 3M filters or Chinese 3M style filters.
