Typhoon Ewiniar, which was named Aghon in the Philippines, is now pushing northeastwards clear away from the islands, and towards some of the Japanese islands this week. The storm will sideswipe Daitojima with storm force winds tomorrow and Thursday, and pass close to Tokyo at the end of the week as it turns post-tropical.
Storm force winds and heavy rain are possible on eastern Honshu as the typhoon tracks offshore.
In the Bay of Bengal, Cyclone Remal made landfall on Sunday and is now well inland over far eastern India, but only contains winds of near 25 miles per hour (40kph). The depression is still dropping large amounts of rain over the area, with additional rainfall amounts of up to 12 inches (300mm) over the region.
Elsewhere, an area of interest has a small chance of formation later in the week into early next week as it drifts westwards, and could become yet another late season tropical storm threat for the Seychelles.
