cars being almost identical in terms of power, winner goes to the better driver. In this case, it is the asian guy in the hat. When he was in the S, he was able to win the 1/4 due to his driving skill. Same applies when he was driving the CTR. The Integra jumped the start. But the CTR was able to basically win the 2nd part of race due to his proper late braking and corner exit.

Crazy what a difference AWD + auto makes in the the race - even from a rolling start the TLX was 3mph slower in the final trap despite being a full second faster I've dusted a couple Teggys on the highway in my TLX bc of the downshifting + lower boost threshold, but they're definitely catching up quick, and I'm sure a straightaway half mile would have a different result

I recently bought a Integra type S.. I really had a hard time deciding between the TLX Type S and the ITS. I have driven the TLX with all wheel drive, it was simply mind blowing the way it handled the road. Simply amazing. The fact that the TLX is an entirely original car - frame and mechanical torque vectoring and all- makes it , in my mind the best sedan available on Earth. Truly an engineering masterwork.

AWD allows better launches but it also raises the curb weight, so lower trap speeds. RWD/FWD cars will trap faster because of less weight, but also launch slower.

@@TheBreakfastLoverYes, you can see when they introduce the TLX it has a full pound more per HP than the Integra. But, to blanket say FWD/RWD cars are faster is misleading; the TLX is particularly heavy in its class. I hear you and that would be awesome, but don't think the Civic frame could handle it. You'll notice if you look at the Integra type S specs compared to the ASPEC that They drop all sorts of features that cost weight just to be able to put in the bigger engine, better suspension, etc. The gone is the powered passenger seat, rear middle seat ( as a weight limit component ), the sunroof, memory settings, and more. All supposedly to save weight.

Great video! I'd be curious to see what the results would be like with both cars on the same tire (either way). Also, it's clear the engine tuning on the Integra isn't just numbers some paper but essentially these are the same car with minor differences (purposes) from the factory. Either of them can become the other performance wise with a few tweak, so in reality it comes down to three things: 1) What styling you like more (pure opinion), 2) If you really believe assembly in Japan is that much better than in Ohio. Engine is made in Ohio either way. 3) How much you care about exclusivity/rarity/future value. For #3, the Civic will always beat out the Integra however for that reason, IMHO, it is the lesser choice of the two since it will be more sought out by car thieves, which they can then more easily ship it internationally since the Civic is a global platform and Integra is North American only.
The type R wing has more drag than the type S. What's crazy is, I've seen a bone stock 00 civic Si run 14.9 back in the day @ Atco raceway.. my fbo 00 Si ran the same on 17 in Konig tantrums with completely bald kumho tires.with the cords showing, lol.

It was not mentioned but those Cup 2 tires may not have been an advantage in this test unless you guys warmed them up first? The cup 2 is not very sticky when cold whereas the MPS4 are good to go at room temperature. Probably would have been better to have both cars on the same tire since virtually no one is going to drive around on cup 2 tires.
@Marbind

Doesn't matter the trap speed alone was higher in the Acura. This is a drivers race. They can bring more CTRs and ITSs and the result will vary. Both cars are literally identical.
@ericmichel3857
10 ай бұрын
@@Marbind I wasn't suggesting that, they claimed the cup 2 tires would give the FS5 an advantage off the line, and all I am saying is that is not necessarily true. In fact if anything it most likely hurt it off the line. Those tires are meant for road racing so the they have stiff sidewalls and the compound is made to work well when they are hot. Cold cup 2 tires are actually worse for drag racing (which they are not designed for), and even if they were up to temperature the stiff sidewall makes them very hard to launch well (especially with FWD). When they are cold they actually have less grip than the MPS4, and that combined with the stiffer sidewalls... This is why they are a terrible tire for street driving where they are almost never up to operating temps. So they wear quickly, are terrible in the wet, and offer less performance unless you are driving with extreme aggression for extended periods (which is not easy to do on the street and ill advised). Plus with the stiff sidewall they are not made for launching, they are for going around corners after one or two warm up laps. That is why he was complaining about wheel hop when launching the FS5. While you can use them on the street, it is a really bad idea. All I am saying is that they should have tried to warm the tires up before this test, and that whenever possible it is better to have all cars on the same (or at least similar tires), and that the cups 2 is not an advantage in this type of test, and if anything probably hurt it a bit. Regardless I agree these two cars are so close as to be irrelevant, I don't understand why anyone thinks this would be a meaningful comparison. We already knew this is the same basic car with different looks, one has better seats and one has a slightly softer suspension, and five more horsepower.

At 325 horse, 3600 lbs, it sits between the cars in weight, with slightly more horsepower than the integra but it's down on power against the TLX. Power to weight would be worse, but RWD and a lot more torque might help it out. I think it'll be closer than it sounds.

Anyone truly comparing the Automatic TLX to the R or Type S are missing the entire point of owning a true drivers car. Automatic Transmissions don't go in the same sentence as a True Drivers Car. The TLX is beautiful fun and quick commuter car that's in a completely different category than the other 2. If it came with a manual it would change the conversation.

So a 911 with a PDK is not a driver's car? Hmm

Honestly the Integra has all the looks but it desperately needs a bigger engine V6.

Maybe the wing on the type R was the thing slowing it down?

Now see how that race went with the TLX SHawD now, why can’t they put that in the civic type R or the Integra they both deserve super handling all wheel drive don’t you agree 👍🏿

The torque-vectoring rear axle from SH-AWD adds about 250 lbs and ultimately slows down the trap speed.

@@TheBreakfastLover OK OK but still an all-wheel-drive civic with 400 hp I don’t think that would matter think about it. It only has 320 hp now don’t you think an all wheel drive system and 420 hp and maybe 400 pound foot of torque you don’t think that would work. Check out Devin Niemela channel to see the first all-wheel-drive civic

@@NCLmethat’s not what a Type-R is about. Type-R’s are about “man maximum, machine minimum”. These cars punch above their weights given their specs and drive wheels.
