Been patching some more, trying to get further out of my comfort zone and pushing the modular harder to get interesting sounds.
This started as a little idea from a Make Noise video about running gates into inputs that aren't designed for it. So I started putting gate patterns into the Timbre, Morph and FM of Plaits, making it sound almost like strike or !! inputs on the Qpas. Interestingly I have a modulated Zone on the Mimeophon delay be the clock for Marbles, so that things are changing in ratios. The Morphagene scrolls through a textured pad synth sample. My second Plaits is heavily modulated and goes through a ton of reverb and effects in Ableton. An operator bass and drumkit come in at the end, a few Ableton clips I had prepared.
All in all I'm pleased with the more evocative sounds I got out of the synth this time. The mix leaves a lot for improvement, but I've come to embrace that modular patches aren't "studio produced" multitracks. The synth sample on the Morphagene is a little abrasive and flat. I will need to spend some more time preparing better source material to mangle up.Hope you enjoy this one.
