Public debts are private assets! You don't have debt unless government has been tilted towards it, by those that benefit from debt. The historical record leading into this crisis is littered with tax cuts, and the spending increases seem to be less of a factor. Quite a political trick to put nearly all Federal taxes on employment, then "take taxes off the table", isn't it? Coupled with the de facto policy of issuing as much debt as the political system can bear, it makes me wonder... What kind of government could possibly survive this assault on social mobility, and incentive to work, over the long term?

It's not so different. Debt repayment still needs to be done by work, it's just a matter of if the money is being collected by taxation, or by direct debt repayment to a personal loan. Punchline is, debt is a really good way to keep your population under financial stress, and in high levels of employment. Also, public debts are private assets. Investors need debt, that's what they invest in! See now why national Republicans keep intentionally creating it? They've been on a decades long campaign of creating as much debt as possible with a series of tax cuts on everything but work. The debt and taxes regime is definitely a big part of the reason for low social mobility, and the destruction of the American middle class.

Billionaires pay 40% of all tax money collected. If congress wasn't making millions from them, they would have changed the tax code. Wake up.

Why is there a need to reduce the national debt when we can keep on printing money? The world financial system is run and controlled by USD and every country needs USD to trade. The debt level is just a number and there is no need to worry about it at all

The USA appears to be too broke from attempting to take Russian Resources? The cost of Colonial Conflict was too much for Gold Standard Currency to support in Vietnam..... They changed that currency and apparently the new Currency is not doing so hot? The USA could improve their position by stopping the operations that certainly appear to resemble Colonial Empire? The Cost of Aggression is greater than the returns.....

@@tanettelandon The idea seems to apply within a single Nation. Once they indulge in trade outside their borders, the effect has to compete. Now that the BRICS Group has created a Gold Standard Currency, that seems to be representing the foreign Trade Valuations that appear to determine the value of anything, the control level appears to be diminished. Dictating what the World can be paid for their products appears to now be the individual resource providers choice. Dictating prices appears to be a thing of the past? BRICS has done what the Bretton Woods Conference of 1944 was supposed to do......

Don't be an idiot. All the national debt is is the difference between federal spending vs the amount of taxes collected. It is the MONEY SUPPLY.... IT NEVER NEEDS TO BE REPAID.... 😂
@CheekyBird790

that's the DEFICET . same as at home when you spend more on your credit cards than you are earning. the (national) DEBT is the total sum you owe to all creditors locally and internationally. Most of Americas creditors are overseas and this debt accrues interest which must be paid. When Americas sovereign debt rating (ie credit score) goes down, the Treasury has to pay a higher yield on newly issued bonds (also debt). the interest payments alone are crippling and America has ZERO hope of paying back its debts, just like many of its citizens.
