I'm 67 and have many favorites. In 1980 this band from Ireland emerged and created a sound in rock music that wasn't there before. They had that sound of the future . Lots of bands with great songs came out of the 80s, but U2 has lasted longer than most and are still relevant. The Edge is truly one of the grwT rock guitarists.

I was a college kid in 1987. Somehow, I managed to get tickets to their concert in Lexington, Kentucky. It was a 16 hour drive as I was going to school in Florida. No Google Maps back then. My girlfriend spent most of the trip staring at a Rand-McNally map and barking directions for me. Made it to Lexington and then got lost trying to find the arena. We got to arena just in time to see U2 take the stage on the Joshua Tree tour. Worth every mile of that 16 hour drive. I remember thinking on way home that I thought the band had real staying power. Thank you so much for posting this. Nuf said. Peace

Will be attending the Sphere U2 Coming Fall 2023 Acknowledged as the best live act in the world, U2 have consistently pushed the boundaries of live performance, with ground-breaking stage shows that embrace the latest in technology and innovation. Achtung Baby, produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, was their seventh album and released in 1991. The album debuted at number one in the US Billboard 200 Top Albums and won a Grammy in 1993 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. It went on to sell over 18 million copies worldwide. We can’t wait to see them perform at Sphere.

First, a great collection here. The best I’ve seen of this type. Also, Bono isn’t just a great singer. He’s a fantastic performer. His moves, his control of the audience, the way he sings before and after the beat. As the barometer of the band, he sets a high bar that pushes the band.
@Pieter-ns5nv
Жыл бұрын
I personally think he is not a very great singer, technically (compared to for instance Whitney, Pavarotti and others). He is good but not exceptional. To me what makes his performance is his stagepresence and the fact that what he sings feels like he has lived through it. His way of singing completes the lyrics.

Have been a fan since "Boy". Comments about them not being the same as in the 80s-90s are certainly true. I first saw them live in 1985 on their first tour of Australia - it was amazing. As I was aged 25 in 1985 then the 4 members are all about my age. Now as a 62yo going on 63 then I'm certainly not the same person I was in the 80s-90s. However I really like this video. This was only about five years ago, they should definitely keep it going maybe one more last go-round. Because Bono actually sounds good. And the rest of the guys haven't missed anything. The main concern is the lead singer's voice and any rock band. And Bono actually sounded really good. Especially on New Year's Day
