It's all about the passion...Bono had so much unbridled passion in his sound during the early 80's on Boy, October, and War albums. Producers like Eno/Lanois started to play with a more soft and sultry sound with Bono's delivery. Still made for great vocals, but I will always love the early rock vocals of Bono vs. any other time in their illustrious career.

Wish I could go back in time... winter 1980, found myself in this little club in Philly,The Bijou Cafe. Not getting anywhere with this cute girl I was talking with,I decided to listen to the band that was playing instead. After about 3 songs, it was apparent that these guys were DAM GOOD.Little did I know that the band playing on stage that night, in front of about 100 people, would turn out to be 1 of the world's greatest rock and roll bands... U2

I was only 5 at the time and was not familiar with their first album. Had I been, I'd been hooked way back then. I had heard Pride in the Name of Love on the radio, but it wasn't until my brother watched a special on the Joshua Tree album that I was forever hooked.

Love this song! Love Bono's hair also. Edge actually had hair too :P U2 were great at the post-punk pop thing, my favourite U2 era (there's so many to choose from!) It's funny when the guy fall down and the others laugh:) cracks me up every time!

What an incredible track. I wish I could have seen U2 back in those days. I don't rate them much now, but back then, before they became propelled by their own self importance, they had a raw magnetic youthful energy. Brilliant!

Love The Edge's main guitar riff and work overall in this song. And Bono's singing and composure in this video is great as well. And of course Adam and Larry provide a great background sound as usual.

Damn good music back then. I was always rushing home from school so I could sit in front of the T.V. and just watch videos. Music was exciting and refreshing back then, it had meaning and a message. There was a ton of it coming out of Europe and it opened up their world. Man, those were some good times. I still remember how powerful The Clash was. It's too bad the lead singer, Joel Strummer, passed away. He leavesa legacy of music that can never be washed away.
