"I can remembering watching 'U2' when they came to the States." They were promoting their first recording, 'U2-Boy'. Straight from Dublin, Ireland what a new unbelievable sound. Get this their music wasn't available in the music stores yet, they were selling their first recording on 'Cassette Tapes' right in the pub. So I bought two Tapes Cassettes, their music was unlike anything that was out at that time. Wow! I can't believe it's been that long ago. If you have an opportunity to see them live, get your tickets and head out and don't look back. Take Care and Be Well Friends:🇬🇧 🇮🇪🇺🇸 ®️

Wow! I heard of U2 *before* they made their first USA tour through a great NYC indie rock magazine at the time. The Editor had gone to Britain to check out new music, and concerts. His short *review of U2 at The Marquee in the Fall of 1980* said > *These guys connect with the audience. Their songs are anthemic. They're ambitious. If they can get successfully get past their sophomore album - I think they'll make it to Stadium Level.* I hadn't even heard IWF/OOC yet (it might not have hit the airways just yet) but the review peaked my interest. In fact had I not missed the advertisement in (NYC's) The Village Voice where they were 2nd on the bill at some midtown, or downtown medium plus size club I might have seen them then. Had to give up my tix in '83 to attend a meeting, but I caught Edge and Adam rehearsing that afternoon. Finally saw them with friends in Dec '84 at Radio City Music Hall (what a place to see them live first time!). Seen them on every tour since then except Pop! They are on my My Rushmore of Rock bands! : )

Lee Harram I have to agree with you. I went to the show a few weeks earlier in Oakland, CA. His voice was better at that show but the crowd didn't have the energy. The stadium was near the water and it was chilly, maybe that's why. So glad I was able to also go to this show. The crowd was "off the hook"!!!! Too bad you can't hear the crowd too well on this video because of the acoustics of the stadium. But at least we have the memories!!!

I think it's from the monitor mix table, there's a guy counting down every part of the songs for... Bono?
@lazy_dad
3 жыл бұрын
@@svenmagnusflubiproducties i think what is more likely is that it's the cues for the lighting guy or something production related. usually the musician's mix is not the main house mix, but custom to how they like the sound. so bono would have his voice higher or lower in his ears as he preferred. many singers only like the band sound in their ears, and not their own voice. does anyone know the source of this for sure? it sure is awesome!!
@svenmagnusflubiproducties
3 жыл бұрын
@@lazy_dad Sorry, but I'm a musician myself and I've worked backstage for Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, Springsteen, Neil Young etc... I can assure you that lighting guys don't need cues, they know the show. I have in ears myself, so I know each musician has his own mix... I don't know any singer who don't want to hear his own voice, I guess we know different singers ;-) U2 has endless delays and spacy sounds, so I can imagine, when you're running around a big stage, this trick comes in handy to know when to start singing again of playing a break or something, but I had never heard it before.

Really nice job. Just found this! The comments some posters made - the delay in this tour was NOT from Bono's bike accident; he was having back problems started to affect his walking. So he had surgery . That was where the delay cane from. When they came back on tour he made jokes something like being repaired like German engineering. So actually there was probably a time in the first part of the 360 Tour were as someone said stiff, not running around I guess yeah because of his back getting worse. I look forward to seeing more of your films.

I think the recent U2 studio works are underrated because of their overcomplicated sound. What I like in best U2 works is that they are pretty simple yet very tricky arranged and emotionally played. THIS recording shows U2's really naked sound. Helper's engineer voice adds a noisy detail to all of it, but if you take it off, then you get a clearly delivered audio of how it should be, so people understand what *real* U2 could be about.

I am starting this post on a negative note because of the alteration. I posted a rave review about this video before. Positive notes are below. This video was being played before with no ads. Now there are ads after every song that detracts from the enjoyment of watching and listening. This video has more added ads than any video I have ever seen on KZitem. What happened here !!! Who sold out a great video to the ad companies just to make a small amount of money. Not even worth watching anymore. Just a hassle to have to skip the ads now. (Positive review before added ads below) I was there that night. I have seen hundreds of concerts in my life. This was a rare one night special show. The U2 crew voted this 2nd night at Anaheim Stadium as the best U2 has ever played in years. The day before on Friday was a warmup for this Saturday show as said in reviews. Even the whole set list was differently played than the Friday concert. The whole band went 100% out and it shows in their energy and enthusiasm. There were many famous and important people who attended this show. This was also the day that Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band passed away. (A tribute to Clarence at the end). So many things were in place that day that pumped up the band to play like never before . This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. The video and audio is just pure art amongst videos. The guy who filmed this should be awarded as a great artistic creation. I have watched this video again many times to enjoy it.

I make no money off this video. The copyright holders (s) of the music do. I have no way to control ads on here unfortunately. I did not know this was an issue as I personally have paid for youtube premium which eliminates ads when i watch anything. For me, it's well worth the monthly $14 or whatever it is as I watch a ton of youtube. I appreciate the comments.
