I remember watching this live on TV - epic moment in rock history. TFI Friday was a great show, and this U2 song is sublime.

Forget it ..... they came roaring back in 2000-2001 imo it was a Mona Lisa era for them I don’t even think they realized it themselves, just brilliant loyal lads to thier homeland!

I have this taped onto VHS somewhere. Heard it on the afternoon showing, sat up waiting for it on the evening repeat. This version beats the single and album versions hands down.

All my life, I worshipped her Her golden voice, her beauty's beat How she made us feel How she made me real And the ground beneath her feet And the ground beneath her feet And now I can't be sure of anything Black is white, and cold is heat For what I worshipped stole my love away was the ground beneath her feet It was the ground beneath her feet Go lightly down your darkened way Go lightly underground I'll be down there in another day I won't rest until you're found 2 Let me love you, let me rescue you Let me bring you where two roads meet Oh, come back above Where there is only love Only love My oh my, my oh my My oh my, my oh my…

so you don't think that it takes talent to play with effects ? the edge has invented some of the most amazing sounds, instead of doing it like so many other guitarists have done before him. remember U2 isn't a band that just relies at the guitarist to do incredibly complicated solos..it's four guys who compliment each other.

He's successful - doesn't mean he's any good. Dire Straits have sold more albums than The Grateful Dead - does that mean they're better than them?

Sorry fatherted - I don't like not enjoying bands - I know where you're coming from - I'm a DJ and I have War, Blood red sky, Unforgettable fire, Joshua tree - got all their hit singles - but I don't get them. I suppose I am different to most people because i do like to analyse musicians and it does annoy me when people think the Edge is good on the acoustic guitar - if compared to someone like John Renbourn or Roy Harper he's a bit of a joke - anyway - bored with this argument - all the best.

steo - Im a better guitarist than the edge - what a twit ! Chas de Walley was intersested in signing my band at the same time as U2 - he'd already tried the Cortinas and The New Hearts but failed miserably - I was always in his office but the tape we had was a third generation job and was hardly audible! - that's why U2 got signed to CBS - he could actually hear their tape! - that's punk rock for you.

Why is he barring chords on an acoustic guitar? Is it some sort of Ramones unplugged session? That is NOT how to play an acoustic guitar. It should be open chords with as little movement in the individual strings as possible like all the great country players.
