This is a quick test of a new tube mic I finished building yesterday. It's a U47 based on two 408A tubes, and uses a Heiserman M7 capsule. Burn-in time was less than 2 hours prior to making this clip. People say these tubes usually need at least 48 hours burn in.
The mic is plugged into an MP573 preamp set at 30 (2nd notch). First voice recorded done handheld, at about 8 inches away.
Second part with Cordoba GK Studio guitar done about 18 inches from the mic, with the mic laying on a desk.
Yes, I said front/back capsule, obviously I meant diaphragm. Whatever. ;)
