I remember singing this song along with my work colleagues when we all went to the pub when we were made redundant in 1981. Sums up that time perfectly.

What a great fucking song man!! The drummer has a great fucking voice doesn't he?? Not much has changed since Unemployment Benefit Form 40.....Aka UB40 recorded this back in the heyday '80's!!! 👍

What HAS changed is the fact that nowadays, there are TWO bands named UB40. - The original band. UB40 - Ali Campbell's solo band. UB40 featuring Ali Campbell. Campbell pulled this move when finding out that the big bucks are in the UB40 name, because as a solo act he barely got any reverence. Needless to say, the two bands do NOT get along terribly well.

The Congo is the name of two countries and a river in Africa. A drum from that area would be called Congolese. The gentleman that you are referring to is playing a pair of congas which are of Cuban origin.

Ja de eerste drie albums waren fantastish maar toen verloren ze dat rauwe geluid. Synthesizers vervingen dat skank gitaar geluid van Ali en Jim ging op die foute Simmons drums spelen.
