Awesome device. The best switch Ubiquiti makes right now. 24x 10GbE RJ45 is amazing.

Yes and the first affordable switch to actually have faster then 10GBE uplinks. And, crucially, NBASE-T fallback. I waited years for this.

Are those ports just 10 Gbe or they negotiate down to 2.5 Gbe or Gigabit?

I was looking at this device also. Did you build your own pfsense server because I don’t see a good option from negate for 10 gig with rj45

Hi, thanks for the video. Does this switch allow setting ACLs for the layer 3 routing? I’ll be picking up this switch to route VLAN traffic at home and currently use PFSense and it’s firewall (1Gbps). On the ubiquiti website it only says “Layer 3 capability”

Yes through cli; no because the settings won't survive reboot. search ACL in my channel.

What is the power consumption of this switch? (at idle or light load)

Awesome, with your example at the end using the L3 mode, if you were using the Pro Aggregation as your layer before Pfsense or say Sophos XG, would this device then be the L3 mode and not the XG24 switch? What would that setup look like.

Is the fan replaceable and what power source does the XG 24 fan use (4PIN PWM)? I'm planning to swap the fans to Noctua NF-A4X20 when mine came.

I have never opened the chassis so don’t know what type of fans are used. The fans never bothered me so I never bothered :)

Did you end up swapping out the original fans to the noctua ones? How much quieter was it? How loud were the original fans?

Does the enterprise switch support stacking?
@hz777
2 жыл бұрын
UniFi switches do not officially support stacking. If you need one single IP address for management, UniFi controller can already do it. Multiple switches can be connected using LACP, but UniFi’s LACP does not support aggregation of ports from different switches. In fact, the so called “enterprise” UniFi switches do not behave differently than non-enterprise ones when it comes to “stacking”.

10G PoE? Do you have a usecase for that?
@marklavine8088

@@hz777 my house has 18 network ports (one per room) and 2 for server room, I want to run 10g to every room (mainly because I want it upgraded for future, also because I am nerdy a bit). In some cases I want a 10g connection to my nas etc and in others I'm running a poe connection to a camera, ap, or to power a flex switch. In my ideal world I have a single root switch that can do 10g and poe++ to all ports, then I can plug in a 1 or 2.5 gig poe device to the port, or I can plug in a 10g non poe device. It solves all of my problems, and yes these do exist but I hate Cisco products and don't want to mix and match. Also I do have a 10g poe that would be awesome but ubi did it poorly. The 10g flex switch (I have 3) has poe in to power it but that's ONLY on the 1g port /sigh. Right now I'm using a root that's 10g connected to a 48port 500w poe 1g and I patch in each room based on requirements. Since 2.5g is becoming so common in consumer devices I really wanted to upgrade the 1g 48 port switch, but if ubi made a 24 port 10g poe switch I could have a one size fits all.

@@marklavine8088 thanks for the detailed reply. I believe 2.5g PoE+(+) is enough in real world. In your case, it seems you do not really need 10G AND PoE, instead you need 10G OR PoE. In fact I have similar requirements and I simply have two cables to each room, one 10G fiber, the other PoE+ or PoE++. I do all the networking for my house, so one cable or two cables to each room makes no difference in terms of labor.
