Traditional forms of finishing are obsolete. Coaches want players that are athletic, quick and they are timing a block when finishing. Thus, athletes have to be able to do all kinds of layups and Mikan drill is perfect for that.
Each player needs a net and a ball to complete the drill, so this is best done in small group sessions.
In this drill, we are looking for:
- rhythm
- speed
- ball is up at shoulder level
- ball doesn't touch the floor
Here are the variations of the drills:
1. Inside foot, outside hand - 30 makes
2. Inside foot, inside hand - 30 makes
3. Outside foot, inside hand - 30 makes
4. Outside foot, outside hand - 30 makes
