Started off as a battle of the setters both wearing #7! Somewhere in 2nd set GCU setter just went kind of silent, while UCLA setter just keeps pumping balls. I remember writing a comment on another UCLA video some time back, "feed #13 lots of high balls" and just look at this game! #13 UCLA is just slaughtering the middle. Looking forward to the next game!

Yo i love volleyball, especially your old PoV footage (would be fun if you brought it back, even just casual games) but all I can play at my uni is co ed rec games. Anyone got any tips for improving and mastering the skills when the average level of play is really low? I don't really get many sets since most ppl are brand new and struggle with passing or setting. I played a bit in highschool so I know the basics but my timing and hitting approach sucks since I dont get many chances

Find other gyms or join leagues and be a free agent and play in open courts there is plenty of Facebook groups I’m sure in ur area with good vvall competition, always try to play different positions and try beach and outdoor as well, it’s great to be a diverse player, also just pass the ball to yourself or set or swing at the wall, alll I know is if u can pass good and consistent u can play anywhere, I play NAGVA and I play in BB comp which is mostly varsity/Juco-D2 Ilevel skill, I do play against some AA comp ij open gyms but these level is really advanced, so I play as a utility hitter mainly middle cause I am great at blocking but I can also set too sometiems but yeah always good to just keep playin anywhere and anytime u can

Also idk if ur a dude or not but if u are FOCUS ON DEFENSE FOR SURE! Guys are mainly trained offensively and that’s alwyas above defense but if u can play defense that is vital!

GCU's starting lib is very talented, I understand the point of a serving sub... but 22 is not that guy. Not even good middle back defense and they moved him from L2 to serving sub... A floating serving sub in this conference is like bringing in a reliever to pitch underhand... an actual outside with a top spin serve, middle back experience, and the ability to hit the bic/pipe would be way more advantageous.

I know it is weird to hear but as a setter myself I have to say that (white team) #7 tries too much, sometimes his obsession with not setting the same guy twice just costs the team a lot of stress and inconsistency, in my opinion he should have set to their opposite way more balls, I know the op doesnt have such great defensive skills but their blockers were weak on him and he was ready from the get go, if the #7 setter and the #16 will work out on my chemistry together and the setter would trust him more, the whole team could evolve a lot
@dozie1237
Жыл бұрын
"white team" is UCLA, been ranked as the number one college team multiple times this season their setter is a freshman. It's his first year playing in college and he's a starter on one of the best teams in the nation. In high school his team won nationals, and he's been playing for team USA for years. He doesn't have this obsession you're talking about, and set distribution is a very important factor in what makes a good setter. #16 consistently lead the team in kills throughout this entire year, there isn't any lack of chemistry. Frankly it sounds like you just don't know what you're talking about.

@@dozie1237 You named a bunch of facts which have little to do with this specitifc game. Good for him being on team usa and all that but you cant ask "does he try too hard to set everywhere?" and answer "hes on team usa", it doesnt matter and no ones perfect. If theres a weakness on the opposing team you should exploit it no? Actually, now that i think of it, it sounds very american to try to show off crazy sets over trying to get the team to victory. Explains the team usa

@@alecmartin8543 meh i disagree, rowans a CRAZY good setter, and the team seems to understand this flow, i dont think it stresses them out. ive watched them play in person a couple of times, and there are very few disconnects. im not watching this full vid, but ido (#16) and rowan have a vv good connection as far as ive seen, maybe that just wasnt executed this specific game 🤷♀
