I gotta give Edwards her credit. I have never seen her knocking down outside shots until recently. I love Senechal's game still. Azzi came alive in the 2nd half. And I gotta give special love to my girl Griffin. Every game just consistently wrecking things defensively leading to fast break points. I want her to stay in the starting lineup. And let her finish the game Geno.

I agree with starting Aubrey for much the same reason Geno was starting Nika prior to her becoming such an effective point guard...because of defensive intensity and intangibles. Then Caroline will be the first off the bench. Although Aubrey is starting right now because Dorka is out. Geno might vary starting lineups based on matchups.

Nika is so vital to what this team does this season. She was active all night and made life tough for Caitlyn Clark. I’m confident Nika is gonna bring it every night. Great to see Ducharme have her first taste of being a offensive presence this team will need. And Azzi’s 3rd quarter was the stuff of legends she was not deterred at all she just kept on pushing. Aaliyah is consistent in her effort which will keep her being engaged.

So true about Nika. I believe that's why she played the full 40 minutes. And even though Azzi didn't start off so hot, she also played the full 40 minutes in hopes that she will lit up and she did in that quarter.

Edward's is looking lethal from mid-range and she's shooting with confidence. Azzi started slow but eventually caught fire in the second half. She's looking like Paige with that jumper 👀. Nika played all 40 minutes and quietly racked up 13 assists. And Caroline looked like her old self!! Glad to see her getting back into form. Damn good game despite the ups and downs. Reminds me of that showdown with DePaul last season where we had to absorb some punches and fight back. Aint gona lie I was a bit worried when we went down by 11 but the team showed grit against an opponent that was well prepared. Second quarter defense left a lot to be desired but you're gonna have this kind of game at some point in the season. Still came out of it with a win! 💪🏽

Tough game, amazing to watch. Finals MVP: Aaliyah Edwards - although Azzi and Caitlyn scoring more, the crucial plays on offensive and defense were done by Aaliyah. UCONNs midrange game was next level, they really improved on there a lot and it was key to win when the 3s just didnt want to drop. Amazing team effort on defense, Patterson improved and looked well more confident, Caroline improved A LOT, did some great plays on defense and her 3s really turned the ties. Love to se more of those tough games, but UCONN definitely has still work to do.

Appreciate you @MJL243. What a game!! UConn showed that Heart of a Champion out there today! Down 11 points but kept their cool came back, down again but hit key shots down the stretch to pull away. Much respect to Aaliyah Edwards. She has been playing some serious basketball lately. Getting double doubles left and right! She is having a wonderful season. Props to the whole team. Nika is showing great leadership skills out there. Not forcing anything just taking what the defense gives her. Azzi. Great play as always. Long ball was not falling early in the game so she took the game inside and started dropping her classic mid-range shots which got her in rhythm and she started dropping the three ball. Lou and Caroline. What a talent those two are. Lou is just a great addition to the squad. Cool under pressure. Caroline. It was great to see her getting longer minutes, Maybe this helped with her getting into a nice rhythm. I do not know. But I do know this, it was great to see her out there for longer minutes and knocking down key shots. She hit two key baskets that opened the game up. Welcome back, Caroline!! Ayanna is going to be awesome! This game she played very well. Played some solid defense and did not pick up too many fouls. The officials let her play and she did very well. All around great team effort. Great win, UConn!!

Sabrina Ionescu played 118 games at Oregon and until today held the record for games with 20+points, 5+rebounds, and 5+ assists. Caitlin Clark broke that career record today....in just 69 games. Whatever you think of her, she is quickly becoming an all-time great...maybe the GOAT. This year her defense has reached next level and she has stopped turning the ball over at a high rate based on usage.
@1971stevan
Жыл бұрын
@Anthony Tomassi Fudd is a better three point shooter than Clark. Clark shoots better than Boston from two point range and heads to the free throw line more than anyone else. She hits the boards as well as most posts, and is right near the top in assists. She is starting to average 1.5/1 plus steals and blocks per game, and she has cut her turnovers down to under three per game giving her an elite assist to turnover ratio. Maybe not the GOAT...but her career averages will likely end up being the best ever in the history of WCBB by a long shot, and measured against Power 5 Conference players absolutely dominant. She is the only D1 female player to ever average 20-5-5 in a season and she has put up 26.8-5.9-7.1, 27-8-8, and, so far, 26.8-6.9-6.9. Those are so far above any numbers any woman has ever put up as to be ludicrous.
@1971stevan

@Anthony Tomassi I never said that Clark is better than Fudd from two-point range...I said Clark shoots better from two-point range than Boston. Fudd is the best shooter in college basketball. Clark is an all-around player...so is Fudd, although UCONN asks her to do specific things (score) so you do not see it as much. I have never and would never slight Fudd, who played HS basketball down the street from me in Arlington, Va.

@Anthony Tomassi I am basing it on last year when Clark...hell, the entire Iowa team (58.4) shot better from two than Boston...who led the SEC in FG%. Clark shot something like 58% from two last year while Boston shot 57% from two.

Listen to Coach A, "We just beat [some] really good teams in the span of 12-13 days. We have another one this Sunday [Notre Dame] with a conference game in between. You have to be able to bounce back, quarter-to-quarter, possession-to-possession, game-to-game. That's what prepares you for what happens in March." There is a comment below saying this was a terrible game. I don't agree. This game gave the coaches plenty to coach up, and from the look of it, these players will accept coaching. This game gave the UConn players confidence they can stand in there, take the blows, and give out some of their own. If this is a game in March, then I would say "terrible." This is November. I think Coach A has seen plenty of this type of play in November over the course of his career.

Wow Iowa had them sweating for a while there but nice to be tested and come thru with a W! Lou seems to be foul prone. Not having watched her before I'm not sure if this is normal for her or cuz she's still adjusting to the level of competition. Edwards did a great job on their center while scoring herself! She's coming into her own this season. Nice to see Ducharme getting back in the flow. Ahe had some nice D late in the 4th and a couple of key shots to maintain the lead. Nika had a quiet game until you realize how many assists she dished, and she worked her ass off guarding CC. I'm pretty sure if Dorka was playing this would not have been so close.

Everybody knows who the best point on the UConn WBB is: Paige Bueckers, but the second-best point guard is not Niki Muehl or Azi Fudd, or Lou Lopez. It's Caroline Ducharme. That's easy to prove because Lou Senechal & Azi Fudd are shooting guards and neither handles the ball as well as Paige or creates shots for herself & her teammates as Ducharme. Of course, Niki Muehl has racked up a record number of assists & she plays All-America level defense, but she doesn't have the confidence in her shooting that she should, and because of that, she doesn't create as well as Fudd - let alone Paige & Caroline. Summing it up, Paige Bueckers is a D1, 1st Team, All America Point Goddess; while Caroline Ducharme is a damn good, D1, Point Guard who is skilled enough to take over from Paige & lead the team to victory. OMT, I think Paige, Azzi, Ailia, Nika, LouLou, & Caroline all have WNBA potential. I also see Paige & Caroline with head coaching futures & I see Nika as a solid assistant coach when their playing days are over

Once UConn shooting kicked into gear the Huskies got back in the game and Clark nor Czinano nor refs could save the other team.
