dray is unfortunate due to being a KlutchsportsBoi, BUT Samson Johnson’s minutes were actually LEGIT game changing, and he only got fouled out because the refs didn’t want him to completely take over the game Straight up the game was basically over once UConn spammed Johnson’s lob-threat in back-to-back possessions… that is fluid NBA play draymond was right, and honestly not only did the refs foul out Johnson to save the competitiveness cuz he was gonna take over, but also his fouls can be seen as indicative of him actually PLAYING hard and making his presence felt to instill fear in the opponent

The strategy of going one on one with Edy only worked because they had a pretty good 7'2" center on him. They wore him down and kept him busy on defense otherwise he would have scored at lot more and had more rebounds. Part of UCONN's plan was to out run Purdue and wear them down - that's what UCONN does, also it's what Hurley said he would do at the half.

Agree with everything you typed. But, I also think college basketball doesn't want to adapt. Why is there no 3 second rule and why are they still playing halves lol? UCONN plays very modern but the college game itself feels antiquated at times. That's why a lot of these college bigs and players specifically dominate college but can't find any playing time in the NBA because the games are so different. Even with college football recently if you win the Heisman you probably end up being a decent NFL player because some of the schemes and philosophies between NFL and College Football are similar. NBA and College Basketball feel drastically different at times.

2024 Uconn one of the best ncaa championship teams ever. Right up there with all the best teams ever. 3 first round picks with 2 lottery picks and that doesn't include one of the best ncaa backcourt combos ever( Triston Newton/ Cam Spencer) with quality backups who could start for most any other team. @9:26 it's because Uconn is the best run program in the country. Also Kevin Ollie's team was the last "Jim Calhoun" team, people are soon to forget. Jim Coached a few of those key players 2 years, including Shabazz. And Shabazz was part of the Kemba team even though he didn't really play. So I see that one as less of an accident. Ollie wasn't a bad game coach in fact his downfall was he put no work in outside of practices and games. Also Jim Calhoun's team was excellent from 1996 basically up until they won that 2014 championship. Only a couple soft years and they probably would have won another title in the 2007-09 era if they didn't have an unfortunate injury in the Elite 8 game. And I will add unlike UNC or Duke or Kentucky, Uconn doesn't get 5 star recruits every other year let alone every year. Yes they get 5 star recruits but not every single year. Why? Because they don't have the "history". Except for Duke the history starts in 88 and that 5 year run cemented them as a "Blue Blood" before they even had 3 titles. I'm not criticizing UNC, Duke, or Kentucky, but you have to respect Uconn's ability to make the most of what they have every year. Also Hurley is obviously a great coach. The Calhoun teams basically won 4 titles, but it took Calhoun 4-5 years to settle into his role at Uconn. The same thing is true for any coach that isn't in a UNC, Duke, or Kentucky level program when it comes to the quality of recruits. Also this is a new era with the NIL and Uconn has the first two championships of a new era. They should be able to leverage this for years. Don't love how Hurley is trying to make people hate the team though. Uconn has not been unlikeable by most for being such a dominant team.
