+grevelo99 +grevelo99 1) yes Maia fought like a pussy. It was like watching video game AI or something, he was so idol in there. But he just lacks the skill to put up a fight against Silva. Silva could've destroyed Maia easily and spectacularly, but he chose to dance around doing those awkward taunts for 25 long fucking minutes. He willfully made the fight an embarrassment. It's his fault 2) What are you taking about? Fighting to win IS entertaining. That's exactly what everyone wanted Silva to do. I mean I get that Silva was being a jackass, but he did throw SOME attacks and they landed pretty well when he did, Maia threw nothing and acted like a timid coward the whole fight. Seriously I find it so weird that no one is saying a single word about Demain at all, even in these youtube comments when he literally stood still the entire time

Maia barely threw a punch because: When Maia who primaly specialises in grappling cant get the fight to the ground time after time its quite demoralizing,and on top of that u got a guy yelling and swearing at you at times to try and punch you when u know he can counter well etc. added on to the fact that Maia's stand up isnt good. SO its all these little things of Silva's mockery and Maia's ability in the fight cause after all Silva is regarded as one of the best MMA fighters to ever grace the octogon
@cynicreviewer
7 жыл бұрын
Thai Tran Then he should have the decency to exclude himself from the octagon. If he's afraid to engage a fighter in any aspect of mma and would rather take a definite decision loss over risking a knockout for a chance at winning he's not a warrior, isn't prepared enough, and doesn't deserve to be there. If you have a fear of pain you shouldn't be fighting the worlds best fighters, leave that opportunity for someone who's willing to make sure they are at the same level as Silva before they take him on. The guy wearing the belt ideally is supposed to be the division's best, how do you deserve to wear it if you are only good at one aspect of mma?
@thaitran3985

***** exclude himself? lmao. So just cause he didnt engage Silva he shouldn't be in the octogon and doesnt deserve to be in the octogon?! That's a biased dumb opinion based on the fact that u want to see guys engage and fight. Its not that Maia was afraid it was that he didnt have much of a standup and as a result why would he try and engage against an extremely great fighter like Silva in the stand up who can KO you easily when countering? So because Silva was purposely clowning around and hardly engaging to the point where Dana White went on a big rant and left the arena and dint engage much he "doesnt deserve" to be in the octogon?? Maia doesnt have a fear of pain.. wtf he wasnt fearful he was cautious and he didnt know much stand up and when ur fighting a guy like Silva its understandable after all it was Silva who was idling. Maia doesnt have the belt and just so u know a UFC Champion DOES not HAVE TO be good at evrey aspect of MMA. U can still be champion and only good at one aspect of MMA, its possible but god dam hard. What other fighter can stick his chin out and dare his opponent to hit him, regardless of the dangers, and still come out on top? He doesn't try to screw with his opponents heads before the fight, he does right in the middle of a fight. The taller fighters/better strikers just run away and use their reach to avoid fighting. Then, they ultimately land something and win on points. It's the same tactic that Tim Sylvia used, only he didn't slap the mat and make faces. The problem is that when the ufc didn't have time limits, someone would eventually get a take down and then they'd just lay on each other. But the UFC changed the rules b/c that was too boring and now they just run away, which is equally boring.

@theklap93 I don't know if that would satisfy the critics... When he finishes fights with a K.O or simply on a spectacular way, people still hate. Just because he so talented! DON'T HATE THE FIGHTER, HATE THE GAME... Period!

Silva put on a performance. He begged Maia to come in and fight, and Maia couldn't come close. White is pissed because Silva made the top middleweight contender look obsolete. Don't get me wrong, Demian Maia is a good fighter, but I think the fight tells you everything you need to know...

this is why i love gsp soo much more, dan hardy was trash talking gsp wayyy more then what maia was but gsp was a professional and didnt let it effect his performace, he even admits he didnt perform well and was honest about it, unlike silva, im very dissapointed

Silva fulfilled his obligation as a fighter and champion, which is to try and win the fight and defend the title, he did that. The other guy failed his obligation cuz he did not deliver what he promised, and Dana failed his obligation which is to get two highly skilled fighters to fight. Maia has no business fighting Silva.

Maia and Sonnen dissrespected Silva before the fight, both of those guys took what they deserve. Silva is the men

YEAA SILVA WON!!!!! Great Fighter N Champion! Everyones juss hating on him. He acted like dat to force maia to go forth and get aggressive but maia kept his cool n i respect him for that. Anderson was getting a lil out of hand but he was confident. Andeson is still one the best in the UFC. Keep defending that title SILVA!!!!

@rogeryork24 you said it exactly right bro! peeps here just want to see the brawl out street fighter style and not using their brain and tatic on how to defeat someone. Silva domolished Mia on the 1st and 2nd round. Why finished Mia and hurt himself. For Mia his a boring fighter for not even fighting, this is a bloody championship belt, give everything you got. !

What exactly did Maia say about Silva? Maia has always complimented Silva's fighting and is so soft spoken and polite. lol. You might as well accuse GSP of being a trash talker.

@Boogathegreat first, maia was the aggressive one while silva clowned throughout the fight. second, not only is he a champion but he's also arguably the best pound for pound mma fighter.. at some point in the fight, when he saw his opponents inactive and won't engage, then it's in his best interest to destroy the other guy. just 'cause his opponent won't fight does't mean silva should do the same.

If you saw the fight, right after when Joe Rogan quickly interviewed him he said '' I don't know what got into me, I guess Maia threw a couple good punches that I wasn't expecting, sorry fans this won't happen again'' and all that crap he has said for the past couple of fights.... keep your promises Silva cause I'm not paying for another fight to see you run away from oponents

Come on Anderson, whatever Maia said its apart of the game...Pre-fight trash talk is a huge part of the MMA & Boxing game..Maia is known for being one of the good guys of the sport, Im still shock by Anderson and disappointed..

@matrolen, his last good fight was against irvin. even his ko win over griffin was a dud. and this is not one moment in his career, this has happened with his fight with leites and cote as well. his ego has tremendously swelled up for the worse. people were more than willing to forget the leites fight.. but then the same thing again with the cote fight. he didn't even apologize during post-fight for his epic lackluster win. if this goes on again, fans will forget his accomplishments.

Before I get a bunch of comments trying to defend the champ just realize that I agree, Maia jumped TWO people to get the fight. Had he not, he would NEVER have been matched with Silva. Joe Silva and the UFC needed a double-title fight for their debut in Abu Dhabi and they did the best they could getting the middleweight with the best chance of beating him. Silva belongs MAYBE at 205 and definitely at 220 if he can get there. There would be PLENTY of competition for him as a heavyweight.....

At some point in the 2ndRound, Silva said, Bate na minha cara, playboy, which in English translates to Come on, hit me in the face, playboy. Heres how FightersOnly explained what the phrase means to the people of Brazil: The stark class and economic divides in Brazil make for a wide gulf in status between the rich and poor. In Brazilian terms, a playboy is a hedonist rich kid, the product of a pampered upbringing who cares little for the poor and knows nothing of real life.

@BloodofAGentleman I know it was entertaining, I love it too, Silva fought then he made a fool against his oponent for just standing there and picking his nose

@Skaijo ...ABSOLUTELY... it's weird isn't it. I thought Silva put on a show once again. I'd rather see an Anderson Silva highlight reel than a punch knockout that Silva is capable of. The fight game is mental, yet if someone "showboats" the are impuned.
