amen. i would never claim to be a fighter of any sort. let alone fighters like these, but i have fought before. friends there, decently sized crowd, feeling pressured to do good or not get knocked down. you go blank and forget everything. zoning out and locking in to give your all. i couldn’t imagine the mental toughness and confidence you’d need to have to step in front of millions and put it all on the line. let alone having the skill to belong there in the first place.

For those that don't know: This is Al Iaquinta, who at this moment had just won an incredibly controversial split decision victory against Jorge Masvidal (5 second knee guy) that most people in the crowd thought Jorge deserved the W on. The crowd were booing to express their dissatisfaction upon the split decision, and Iaquinta was just defending himself, asking if they are booing him - hinting that despite the dubious decision, he fought to the best of his abilities and does not deserve to get booed as the decision was out of his hands.

They’ve been training for YEARS just to get to this point, fight in front of a crown of hundreds or thousands of people, and get the win against other top level fighters back to back continuously over YEARS. Just to be remembered as greatness. I couldn’t imagine that level of pain/stress, and this is coming from someone who’s done physical labor for 15+ years

Can vouch I was obese went from 130kg to 80kg and gotta say the mentality is degrading when you lack the stamina to walk around your own house lmao.
