UFO especially with Michael Schenker (without taking anything away from the other members, all very good) were a great band that knew how to compose unforgettable songs. He combined sublime melodies with remarkable grit. In Italy they were completely snubbed at the time. Blessed are you English people who had the honor of seeing them live. Greetings from Italy

UFO with Michael Schenker is the best band I've ever seen live, and I've seen a lot of great ones. But no one was better than Schenker, Mogg, Way, Raymond and Parker, when those 5 took the stage it was amazing.

Most music "fans" that I have talked to have little knowledge of music or the construction of music, they fall into on of two camps. 1) flavor of the moment. Or 2) I heard it was good.
Schenker did alot of great guitar work for a kid!!! He was a teenager when he was in UFO!!!

As a Schenker fan, this is incredibly annoying: arguing over which guitarist is fastest or who did what first. Schenker is about beauty, taste, style, and grace. Speed is totally inconsequential to creativity and expression, which believe it or not is what music is actually about. A truly great guitarist is someone (like Schenker) who's playing is exactly what he feels. You can't really judge music at this level, or say that someones emotions are better than someone else's emotions. It's not a competition. Grow up.

Favorite band ever! Listening to and finding kick ass rock-N-roll didn't come easy when UFO hit the air in the States back in the early 70's Back then , just like today the radio was cluttered with mostly bullshit ! No KZitem, just the BoobTube. The only way you could get a crack at the good shit was to stay up way past your bedtime (I was only about 12 when this came out), sneak into the tv room and flip on Kirchners Rock Concert or Midnight Special Then hope you could find the album

Uli Jon Roth not as fast as Schenker? Hmm I'd have to disagree. It doesn't matter. Schenker and Roth are my 2 favorite guitar players all time. Have been listening to them for over 25 years now. I'm the biggest fan of both of them. They are the 2 best at what they do. Melodic hard rock with style. Both excel at melody, phrasing, tone, vibrato, speed, with a the ability to write great great songs/solo's that are fresh and not sounding repetitive. The best 2 hard rock lead guitarist ever. Peace.

My friends at the time in 1977 (Lee and Tank) used to debate fiercely whether Chapman could replace Schenker in UFO, as he did on the 'No place to run' album. My friends tried to convince me, but honestly, once I had seen Schenker play with the band on the Obsessions tour, I was a lifelong fan of the group only at this point in their evolution - they never really got any better.

Many won't argue that UFO is the most underrated hard rock band ever..and that's ok, in a selfish way. Back in mid/late 70's while many were still listening to KISS (after "Destroyer", their last decent effort), others were paying attention to UFO, Budgie, Motorhead, B. Scott/AC-DC, JP and other "obscure"-at the time- bands. They had little to no radio airplay, no MTV, few rock mags like Circus and Creem to get exposure and Midnight Special...but we certainly had the BESTconcerts. \m/
