I love this album! There are a lot of songs that I like on this one but for my favorite, I'll have to go with the rock anthem "Only You Can Rock Me" 🤘 I mean seriously, after the breakdown in the middle of the song with Paul Raymond's light touches on the keyboards, where Michael cuts into that solo... PERFECTION! What's you favorite track off of Obsession?

Proud owner of an original vinyl copy of UFO1 here (love that record regardless). Funny they made it to Japan with those two "un-listenable" records already by that time :-) UFO 1974-1979 best and most underrated British hard rock band ever. Incredibly influential to so many rock musicians. They deserve a place in the so-called "Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame" just because of that. Ask Steve Harris.
@TheGoldenAgeofHardRock
2 жыл бұрын
I own those first 2 also, Robert, I just never listen to them. Calling them unlistenable was perhaps a bit harsh. You are absolutely right about Steve Harris and when you're at an IRON MAIDEN show and you hear 'Doctor, Doctor' on the PA, you had better make you way to your seats because when that song ends, the show begins. 🤘

Look at those Album Covers! They are all pretty much Iconic. They did so much for my interest in those bands and was often a big part of the experience. That's all gone! On Spotify i can't even see who made what besides who made the song, performed by and who produced it. And all of that is often not there.

My very first and favorite UFO album!! Purchased this soon after getting MSG I back in ‘80 or ‘81… Only You Can Rock Me, Hot ‘n’ Ready, Born To Lose, Ain’t No Baby, and Lookin’ Out For #1 are my Top 5 Faves, but love the whole album! OYCRM was one of the very first guitar solos I learned! LOF#1 meant so much to this 17 yo kid back then… best production of the 5 MS albums. Music = 5. Album cover = 5. My favorite UFO album cover!

All the ufo albums with Schenker are strong but phenomenon lights out obsession and the live strangers in the night are masterpieces I championed these albums at the time and couldn't understand why they were not absolute headliners in the U.S. Now days they stand the Test of Time Never will forget the first time I heard phenomenon and Strangers in the night .I bought Lights out because of a review by G.Brown of the Denver Post When Obsession came out I was a Schenker fan and a Ufo 🛸 fan for life buying almost everything that ever came out since by Ufo and M.S.G. Obsession yea I wore the grooves out and have the original cd and remastered edition!!!!

Saw 'em 5 times in the 70's. Manchester Free Trade Hall in '77. Sheffield City Hall, Manchester Free Trade Hall again, Leeds Grand Theatre, in '78, all with Schenker on lead guitar. O.K. 4 1/2 stars. I'd have given it 4 or 3 3/4. Very cool how you dug up all of the really weird marketing of the singles. Yes, "Only you can Rock Me" is THE single. But I think Looking out for # 1 in France is very cool. As a huge fan and having read Pete Way's book and other stuff they were tired and getting dark; as are the lyrics on this gem. This is why I can not give it more than 4 stars. Pack it up and go-you don't fool me....one more...."Turned around to the janitor, Just how long you'd been dead." and oh yes, "Born to Lose." Not exactly a bunch of tunes you'd pull out for your new girl. Still a masterpiece w/Mad Mickey's soaring leads and all in good tune capturing the mood of the times. Thanks for the post.
