Join us as we travel to and trek with the endangered mountain gorillas of Bwindi National Park.
We start off this video by heading out to Queen Elizabeth National Park where were get to spend half a day doing a game drive around the southern area of the park. That night we stayed in Ishsha Wilderness Camp, where we were woken up by an elephant who decided that he wanted to walk right through our camp. It was incredible to be sitting at breakfast and only meters from an elephant walking by.
After our short stay in Queen Elizabeth National Park we made the drive over to Buhoma Lodge where we spent the afternoon resting up for our gorilla trek the next morning.
When you go gorilla trekking your experience can vary a lot! You may only be out 2 hours, or you could be trekking for 6 hours. So that next morning our lodge had everything ready for us, breakfast, leg covers, rain jacket, lots of water, snacks, and a boxed lunch. We went over to the ranger office where they had a local women's camp performing and talking about the gorillas, we met the rangers, and were assigned a gorilla family to trek. Luckily our gorilla family was very close to the ranger station and we only spent about 20 mins trekking before getting to sped an hour with the gorillas. We were back at the lodge by lunch, where we enjoyed our packed lunch, went over pictures and relaxed the rest of the day talking about our experience with other groups.
It was such an incredible experience getting to be so close to these amazing creatures.
