Britain's 100-year-old Queen Mother has broken her collar bone after falling at home, officials said on Monday.
The accident happened at the weekend while the mother of Queen Elizabeth was unattended, according to media reports.
She was found by a member of staff and treated by doctors at Clarence House.
It is the second fall in a week for the Queen Mother, who celebrated her centenary on the fourth of August.
Last Tuesday she tripped on her evening gown while getting into her limousine after a dinner in central London.
A palace spokeswoman said the Queen Mother was now resting at her Clarence House residence in central London and had cancelled all engagements for the time being.
The Queen Mother was out of bed and sitting up with her arm in a sling, the spokeswoman added.
Family members were due to visit her later on Monday.
The Queen Mother, who has had two hip replacement operations, has had trouble walking in recent years and has resorted to using two walking sticks.
She has also suffered from persistent ulcers on her left leg.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"May I thank you my Lord Mayor for your very kind words and for the wonderful reception that I have had here today. It has been a great joy and I am deeply, deeply touched. May I also thank you for this lovely picture. I know that when I look at it, which I am sure will be very often, I shall think of this extremely happy day spent at the Guildhall. Thank you so much."
