And secondly what about the salary is it same like after the plab or MRCP ? Is the spouse allowed to live with you on this visa ? And last thing after finishing mti what degree we will finally hold is it specialty degree?
@AceurMRCP

Although, MTI is not seen as a pathway to settle in the UK, there are many instances where candidates have completed MRCP or otherwise and settled in the system. Salary depends on your work experience at the time of applying. Dependents are allowed in this visa. You can apply for a diploma certificate after MTI completion.

@@AceurMRCP Hello, thank you for your quick response! As I was saying, the eligibility criteria that you have mentioned seems to be incorrect as on the RCP website, they have mentioned that a candidate need to have ALL of the following - www.rcplondon.ac.uk/file/19191/download 1. You must hold a primary medical qualification recognized by the GMC and verified by (ECFMG) 2. You need to have a postgraduate qualification (MRCP (UK) part 1, MD or other higher degree in medicine or a medical subspecialty.) 3. You must have 3 years of post-qualification experience (including 1 year’s internship and at least 1 year in the specialty in which you intend to train whilst in the UK). 4. You must have been in clinical practice for 3 out of the last 5 years including the 12 months prior to GMC registration having being granted educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. First two criteria can be fulfilled by someone who has completed one year of internship in India and appeared and passed MRCP 1 exam. However, to fulfil criteria 3 and 4, one needs to continue working post internship (1yr) without any break for another 2 years. (or) 3 years continuous after cracking MRCP 1 exam. Keeping in mind that one out of 3 years should be devoted entirely to the specialty of interest. Therefore, any candidate who simply passed MRCP 1 just after internship and without any clinical experience seems to ineligible for this scheme. Correct me if I am wrong. I will be more than happy if I am wrong in fact as I am about to give my MRCP 1 exam as no PLAB dates are available in the near future. P.S. - I am you junior from NRS Medical College, Kolkata. Thanks!

Hi Shivam, You are quite right. I have listed all these criteria in my e-book and that is why I didn't elaborate these points in my video. Indeed this list in the RCP MTI website is there but the reality is very different. MTI posts are also now open for more junior roles like SHO/Foundation year 2 where international medical graduates can directly apply for Part 1 for MTI interviews. Since the application, interview and COS process takes almost close to a year, by the time the candidate applies for GMC registration, the candidate would have had the required post graduate experience that is acceptable for MTI. Also, presently the NHS has huge staff shortages, if the trust is happy with the doctor's CV and interview and accepts that they are a good fit for the role that they have applied for, then MTI sponsorship should not be a problem. If you are planning to apply, I would definitely encourage you to do it soon. All the best.

@@AceurMRCP Thank you Aparajita for such a detailed answer. I feel completely boggled at this stage due to so much information overlap though. When u say that the reality is very different, do you mean that there is relaxation in the eligibility criteria? At this stage, I have so many questions. But I think it will be the best if you could directly suggest the best option for me. I would be really thankful for that. I have completed my Internship from NRS and planning to give MRCP Part 1 in August this year. What should be the next best step considering I wish to move to UK? 1. Should I apply for MTI right now ? 2. Should I wait for MRCP Part 1 results and then apply for MTI? 3. Should I join as a housestaff(HS) now in a Medicine Branch and prepare for MRCP 1 and apply for MTI once I pass, and continue HS so that by the completion of my application, I have a continuous 3 year experience? 4. Any other (please guide) Thanks!

Hi Anirban MTI is not a pathway to get a place in the specialist registrar but it is a starting point. You have to either complete CCT or CESR pathway. MTI would help you get started in achieving the competencies needed for CCT or CESR.
