Just randomly came across this video and I must say I really respect your collection and collecting philosophy. Much more interesting and worthwhile than a collection of all Rolexes. Don't mind the "sell the ______, get the ______" comments... We don't all need the same watches. I also completely share your view on Nomos, and for me the one I chose (the one with the "soul") was the Minimatik. The Metro neomatik was a close contender though.

I also agree, the Reverso is my grail as well, the duo face on a bracelet! & You have one of the best collections I’ve seen yet and I watch ALOT of SOTCs. Keep at it man!

What a start! I’m on the 3rd watch and you already got an amazing collection. Love the Baltic, the GS is beautiful, and that Nomos is very underrated!

Keep the Tudor and GS get rid of the rest, get a Breitling super ocean heritage diver, an Omega speedmaster chrono and a JLC reverso dress piece and you’re done.

So sell four watches for maybe £3k then buy three for £15k? I wish it was that easy to make the maths work! Anyway, not a fan of Breitling, I’ve done the Speedie thing - Reverso is on the list, though!

@@UKfountainpens I just mean that a solid collection to me is better than many lower level ones. I’m not trying to be a snob, but Is a horology debate that separates the watch community lol I think a solid 5 piece JLC, Tudor, GS a good Swiss diver from Omega or Rolex and Chronograph maybe from Breguet (excuse my spelling) would be better.

@@frankv7068 oh sure - I would love a Breguet too, but it’s never going to happen. Issues of affordability aside (and those are very real to me), I don’t think I’ll ever feel comfortable wearing more than about £4-5k on my wrist at any one time. And the advantage of the cheaper microbrands is not only that they are less of a hunk of cash on the risk to damage or be mugged for, but they also give me a chance to experiment with unusual looks - like a salmon chronograph - without huge investment.

@@UKfountainpens As a collector of fountains pens with up to 40 at once since 1988 and watches the last three years or so I have learned having an "icon" is great only if you can connect with them. In real life nobody really cares about your watches (nor your fountain pen) so what anyone thinks you should own is simply a case of confirmation bias. For example I have had a MB 149 since 1992 and perhaps used it 10-15 times since as I have never connected with both its form nor nib as opposed to my 1988 Pelikan green demonstrator at over half the price which I still use every day but with its original frankly cheap nib.. So as a fountain pen collector I should be "proud" to have a 149 as some would say it legitimizes the collection I would never buy it again for myself in 2022 as opposed to the Nakaya, Onoto, Omas and others I would definitely buy again. When it comes to watches I went through a 15 year period of consumerism rather than collecting though the purchase of $100 to $1500 watches simply based on impulse which is easier when they are relatively inexpensive. About 3 or 4 years ago I sold them all to start to fund mid tier luxury watch purchases beginning with a GS Hi Beat GMT. Purchased online it met my newfound criteria of wanting an in house movement, combined with attention to dial and case design. Ultimately though it was too big for my wrist and had to go. Since then I added form factor for MY wrist and that meant the necessity of trying on a watch on first. At the moment I have six watches including not usual suspect Rolexes, a different GS, Tudor and couple of Omega, and as an outlier (as it has an ETA movement) an An Ordain. I am very happy with them I love them all to bits and the collection is small enough that they all can be worn frequently but admittedly I enjoy watching watch videos of other's journeys perhaps because they reaffirm my own personal choices. Cheers!
