UKRAINIAN border guards who helped defend the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol while it was besieged by Russia over several weeks in April and May were given keys to new homes at a ceremony in Lviv on Friday, October 21, officials said.
The six service-members were among 12 border guards to receive new service apartments during the event, according to the State Border Service.
The six involved in the siege of Mariupol were among hundreds of Ukrainian fighters and civilians taken into Russian captivity when it ended.
The six guards were released in June, underwent treatment and rehabilitation, and were re-assigned to units in western Ukraine, the SBS said.
