Super👍

I almost cried. This is a profound expression of hope in the midst of evil and pain. As you might know, these lyrics described the coming of spring and new life. As the lyrics say, there's a promise of hope that comes with the spring. In the same way, the modern version of the song expresses joy. Even in the cold of winter, the lyrics still express hope: "One seems to hear words of good cheer from everywhere filling the air." It's so beautiful to see people expressing joy and rejoicing, even in the cold of winter. In modern times, I can imagine Ukrainians singing songs like this even in the darkness of war. In bad times, rejoicing is vital. And I can hear the joy in the voices of these singers from 1922.

Mr. Koshyts and his choir did their best to bring Ukrainian culture to the world just as Lenin was consolidating power and Ukraine was aborbed into the USSR. Eternal thanks!

A New Year's song - originally not about Christmas at all.

This is a song from the pre-Christian period, so it is more than a thousand years old, and it is a reference to the existence of the Ukrainian language before the baptism of Rus. Volodymyr the Great baptized Rus in Kyiv in 988 - this song is one of the oldest that has come down to our time from the times of Rus. In the pre-Christian period, the New Year was celebrated in the spring, precisely in the spring when the swallows flew in. The song tells about the fact that a swallow flew in and called the owner of the house, then it told him to look at the sheepfold, because he had lambs there, then the swallow told him that all his goods were good and he would have a lot of money, then the swallow told him says that if he does not have money, then he will receive bran from grain in the sense of a small profit and adds that he has a black-browed wife, hinting that the most important and most valuable thing he has is his beautiful wife, and not profit.
