Been playing a uke for almost 2 years. Got an Aklot Banjo Uke 6 weeks ago and I’ve been practicing your strumming techniques daily. Thank you for all these great videos!

This is a real foot stomping song with fun words. The paintbrush, sledge hammer and blue grass strums are coming along fine because I practice them every day. The double strum will take some time but eventually I'll get that too. A huge thank you, Kelly.

Been playing about with banjolele for about a year...Trying to step it up now. Your presentations are clear and fun. If it ain't fun at this stage in my life it don't get done. You have a great knack of explaining the theory and technique without talking theory and technique....keeping it in layman's terms. Thank you.

So…the double strum is a bit advanced for me right now. But following along and practicing I know I’ll get there, and fully enjoy the trip. Also have to give you a big thumbs up for your song selections. This one has been especially enjoyable. I love Hank Williams, yet wasn’t familiar with this. Can’t help but smile at the clever lyrics. Now I’ve gone down a rabbit hole reading about the history and significance of this one. Definitely ahead of its time. Thanks!

Hey Lucy! Ya it's a fun song for sure! George Thorogood and the Destroyers did a cover of it that was pretty "rockin". Glad you enjoyed it Lucy - you'll definitely get the double strum!! Have fun with it !! Kelly

Good to see you Kelly. Great lesson. I bought a dear little banjolele recently but don't seem to be getting on as well with it as my ukulele. I must persevere inspired by you and your techniques. Thank you. Best wishes.

Hey Lisa!! That's great news about the banjo uke! Stick with it - work the paintbrush and sledgehammer strums to get yourself rolling. Seriously, let me know if there's something that's really "hanging you up" and I'll do what I can to see you over the hump! Kelly

Love love this ! Hank Williams is one of my favorites ! I love how you break it down for us beginners and slow learners 😂. Me. ! But then progress so everyone can play ! Also I like I can decrease the speed. I didn’t know that until you pointed it out on one of the sessions. Thanks !!

Hey Bonnie!! Im really loving the community we're building here on this channel. So many nice people (like yourself). I got to thinking - I look at it like we're all uke players and we have our own condo building - some folks are "living on the first floor" and others are up on the third (depending on their skill level). I want to teach everybody a version of the songs so that we can all meet up in the "party room" later and play the tunes together. It doesn't matter what floor you're on - it all blends in to make a great jam session! Kelly

Can I use a low G with your strums. Love your sounds. Dave G ..UK.. 2220 hrs.
@fourstringstrummer
6 ай бұрын
Hey Dave! Sure you can. It will give a little different sound but there's no reason why not. With a high G it gives something a little closer to a banjo type of sound (with the high G ringing). With a low G it will sound a bit more like a Travis style guitar picking. I think the BEST solution is to treat yourself to another ukulele! One for high G and one for low G. How's that for a great idea?? Let me know - I'll write you a prescription if necessary! Doctor Kelly
