The absolute perfect glider. Personal Best 23.06 m. Olympic record 22.47m. Special thanks to Gerry McEvoy of macthrowvideo.com and Rob Suelflohn for supplying the video clips. Enjoy!
Us throwers are honestly so underrated. Half of the people that know of Track and field have no clue about throwing or the strain we put on our bodies to throw far. It’s sad too because at some track meets the official tend to act like they have a better use of their time. We don’t get the same love and respect that the runners get and it genuinely bothers me. It’s hard to put your body through all that to compete only to end up with no support. Those who run track, support your throwers❤️! We go through a lot to do what we have to do. This is not an easy event at all. Not just shotput either. I’m talking about weight throw, hammer throw, discus, javelins and shotput. Throwing is very complex and takes a great deal of physical and mental discipline. Be there for your teammates!💕

Thanks for the comment, I've always been a huge fan of your videos. They've helped me promote throwing to athletes I coach in high school.

What a GREAT glide...Take note of how hard and fast he pulls the left leg and left hip across the ring. That's how its done!

3:27 He actually looks like a decathlete. Amazing that he threw that far with such a 'skinny' frame.

They are not saying he is small, but he is really small compared to the other big throwers back then and even now, that is what they are talking about.

Don't let that small frame get you. The man was really strong. I know there's a video some where showing him bench over 5 bills super fast.

I don't think that is what he meant. He meant that ulf looked significantly smaller than the other shotputters due to his tight/compact muscle.

not necessarily. he had massive legs which are better for the glide. and im not sure if he had the upper body strength like barnes had to do the spin. but we will never know
