Quick question, when playing the Union at Shiloh & Secure River, the Union gun boats are invaluable. What would you compare those guns to as a unit? They seem more powerful than anything I can find one on one; at least from what I have seen.

When fighting against the boats, many players were claim they are to strong. When the boats are on your side, some people say they are to weak. lol A few years ago I did see how many artillery batteries it would take to sink the two at Shiloh while playing the CSA and it eliminated 3 or 4 of the allied batteries before I sunk them. I'd equate them to a 20-pound Parrot batteries with two shell/shot perks but I don't know any of the exact numbers on what the boats will do. Whether the gun boats are always the same or have any variance from battle to battle is unknown to me.

@@gonzogamer8710 Thanks, I was looking to see if there was any information but I really didn't find anything that was of much help. I do think they are a very powerful force, at least in my experience, and rely on them quite a bit when playing the Union, and distance myself as much as possible when CSA. I was thinking along the same lines as you, but wasn't sure if the numbers were set or random. Thanks for your help as always!

Thanks for this and all your videos; much appreciated and very useful. Can you elaborate on the value of bringing as many division commanders as possible? e.g. you brought 4 when 3 would do. So, for instance, does each Div Commander increase XP or Efficiency for every brigade in the battle and if so, approx. how much? Or, in general "bringing extra Div Commanders gives you ___ . . . "

Units gain xp based on increasing their stats during battle. Unit commanders gain XP based on the units performance. However, Corps and Division commander get a flat amount of XP for the battle (though not all battles award the same amount). Therefore, if you took 5 units to a battle and they were all in one division, then only that one division commander receives XP. By dividing units across all available divisions within a corps, you ensure that they all get XP. Thus, I always take my best officers and as many divisions as possible to get the most XP as I try to get my first Major Generals and then later, Lieutenant Generals.

@@gonzogamer8710 Thank you. Has a strategic value but no immediate tactical value; another one of those subtle finer points that I'm looking for.
