I like they reduced the timers. Historically this was a time crunch battle and McDowel did indeed fail to breakthrough to Harpers Ferry in the 3 days he told them to hold out. Harpers Ferry did hold out til the 4th day, but it was an indefensible position and Gen Miles took a posthumous bum rap from history for presiding over the impossible defense that ended in the largest surrender of US forces until Bataan.

I have 0 in recon. When after battle reports say I captured one 10 pd parrot, for example, may I deduce that was a certain percentage of csa total? And if I capture a unit I get all that is left of it, right? Thanks. GO GONZOGAMER 😊

Base weapons recovery is 30% on COL, 20% on BG, and 10% on both MG and LG. In version 1.28 of the mod, various modifiers are then applied to those base values. Modifiers from points in recon start at .65x at 1 and increase to 2x at 10. Thus, if you are playing BG, 1 point in recon would be .65 of 20%, or 13%. 10 in recon would be 2 x 20%, or 40%. I don't recall the modifier for 0 points but it is likely around .5. Rescued weapons are from your own units and any allies in the battle. Captured weapons are from the enemy. The next modifier is related to rescue or captured. I don't recall the percentage, just know that allies that survive the battle will always give you the highest percentage of rescues. The next highest will be the percentage from surrendered AI units (it is not 100%). The last modifier is the percentage from AI casualties (killed or shattered). Those calculations will be reflected in what you see in the battle report. If you pause cursor movement on the first page of the battle report the casualties to your personal units will be displayed; Killed, Wounded, Missing, and Captured). Weapons from killed and captured are gone forever. Medicine is applied after the battle when you go back to camp to your wounded troops, giving instant return. A combination of AO and unit Command level is applied after the battle when you go back to camp to your missing troops, also providing instant return.

I'm union bg. 10 in PO. am avoiding using rep points due to importance of morale they give and my low veterancy. Therefore rookies still get 1842s. Good strategy?? Thanks

When it comes to in-game calculations, morale is only a primary factor during melee. You want your condition and morale to stay as high as possible during melee. As condition and morale decrease you have modifiers that lower unit performance. However, unless a unit is under heavy fire, morale won't typically drop much if a unit is shooting but it can drastically change when in melee. Both melee and shoot damage are primarily calculated by the weapons, so if your infantry are mostly using accuracy perks, then buying the weapons is better than the morale bonus. If you are creating a melee focused army, then keep the morale bonus and the SP42 do good melee damage.
