I'm used to cleaning my jewelry as you have in this video but my daughter got me an ultra sonic jewelry cleaner for Christmas. It uses plain water and sits on my bathroom counter. I place the jewelry in before my shower and when I get done with my shower I get it out and it's shiny clean! Sells on Amazon for $40. so it's not too pricey.

An ionic cleaner is even gentler and doesn't have the certain risk factors like ultrasonic of damage. Ultrasonic has a long list of exceptions of what you shouldn't put in the machine. Speedbrite is the one I know that has a good ionic. The ultrasonics are stronger and fabulous for many things though.

I use Caribbean Gem jewelry cleaner always. It’s made with banana and coconut oil and gets everything super clean, even plated and costume jewelry. You can even use it on pearls and opals. It’s been my go-to for at least 10 years now. All-natural and non toxic… you can even let your diamond engagement ring soak in it all night in between wearings! 😅

I’ve been using a jewelry cleaning solution, which, so far, hasn’t damaged any of my jewelry. I prefer silver over gold, but my favorite is rose gold. I love the pink tone against my skin. I’m not that big on diamonds and prefer colored stones like rubies and sapphires. Having said that, my favorite fancy earrings is a pair of 1/4 karat diamond studs.

its tinfoil here in NZ, HINT for silverware, you can also take micro cloth and/or toothbrush with Baking soda powder alone, for a really quick clean. Also you only need a scrap piece of tinfoil, and you can use more soda if you have a really tarnished item, or larger item. :) I have always used these methods, and it can often mean the tarnish stays away for longer too. I'm a sliver person but love rose gold also. diamonds, yes please! but opals are my fave (black ones, of which I have one of!! :) :) 0

As for the silver cleaning - this is an electrochemical reaction, so to make it quicker/better - add not only baking soda, but also salt in 1:1 ratio. Tarnished silver will be clean instantly on touch with the foil. Salt introduces more free ions to the mix which in turn helps with sulfur removal. As for the smell - do this in WELL VENTILATED AREA or preferably outdoors if you have large amount of silver to clean - because this reaction produces H2S. Which is toxic... And finally - worth noting is the fact, that if your jewelry has some designer tarnish/oxidation on it - this process will remove that too. So be careful. If you are nimble enough you can clean around those parts.

In Germany we call it "Alufolie". 😄 After I have read about the misery, the exploitation and even wars that are caused by the trade with gold and diamonds I would never ever buy gold and diamond jewellery again. Silver is less critical but the mines of the world are nearly empty and I think there might be other really important uses for this material than wearing it as jewellery. So I wear costume jewellery or none at all. And what about my real jewellery? Maybe I keep it to give my kids when they grow up to wear or to gift to their fiancé(e)s. Or I will sell them. Prices might rise in the next couple of years. And in order to get the best price, I will clean them.
