The thing is, it's amazing that they keep up with Ross to begin with. Strength isn't the main objective in Gymnastics, but rather a small piece of the larger puzzle. While it's certainly benefits everything they do, they can't dedicate all their time and effort into developing strength. Since it's essentially just a means to an end for them. They also need to develop their flexibility, balance, coordination, technique and most importantly their individual skills for their rutines. Which while share similar traits, do still differ. Just because you're able to do a double backflip on floor, doesn't inherently mean you're immediately also able to do it on high bar or P-bars automatically. You could have all the strength in the world, but if you don't spend time on training technique you won't be able to pull off any skills on the pummel horse or high bar, floor etc. Instead, try looking at the difference between them like this. They would both be way better at doing what Ross does. Than Ross would be at doing what they do. In fact I doubt he would even be able to qualify to legitimately compete against a gymnast to begin with. And I mean no disrespect to Ross, as he has worked hard and is really good at what he does. But to disregard the skill and prowess of Nile Wilson because Ross could potentially out perform him in terms of strength is very ignorant. Not only that, but measuring strength isn't something so linear that it can be generalized like you just did. Ross, Bruce Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger are all very strong people, but in very different ways. Because they need to be strong for different goals. Maximum strength, muscular endurance, recruitment of motor units etc. Are all various factors of strength that need to be taken into consideration. The fact that they are able to challenge various people that are actively trying to hit the peak of different types of strength. Despite not having that as the main focus themselves. Is very impressive and admirable. Especially when you consider the vast range of what their training requires from them. Hope I explained this in an understandable way

Ross' bench press is impressive as hell. 30 without specific training for what's basically the NFL combine bench for him, with power building form not powerlifter form (way harder) while not chasing anything (probably had more in him) and while like 50kg lighter than the guys usually hitting 40+ reps. Maybe on PEDs (I actually don't know what to think, conventional wisdom tells us that no one could be that big while training for endurance and not on PEDs, but wouldn't not getting his test fuck him up doing a super endurance event?) but that's still strong beyond belief. This guy is borderline superhuman.

The scores before the last challange, 6-5-5 Ross got 1 point from last challange since he came in second place, sam came in first, so he got 2 points, so that puts him at 7 aswell, so final score were 7-7-5?
@ContactJTP
7 жыл бұрын
You are correct, in that according to the scores listed: 6-5-5, it would be a tie. But in reality, I think this was an Error. Nile and Sam did not leg press over 300 kilos so they "split" the point. (But it shows up, I believe, as a full point. In past challenges, a tie during a round equals 0.5, which is what I had in my head going into the last challenge. Which would make the scores 6-4.5-4.5 (Not 6-5-5 as listed.) Ross got second so he'd get one more point to equal 7. Sam got 2 so he'd get 6.5. Nile got zero points and ended with 4.5. Any thoughts Nile?! lol

Hi Nile, I have always loved gymnastics and trained but I never really had anyone to teach me. I did lessons for 2 months then had to quit due to moving countries. Currently, I have another 4 months till I start school again and I'd like to do as much gymnastics as possible. I stretch everyday and have done for 3 years but I'm too scared to try new things. I learnt many years ago handstands, cartwheels, splits, ect, but all I've done since then is try to perfect them. I'd love to try and be able to do all new things but I don't have the equipment or an instructor to help. Should I continue stretching and perfecting what I know, or risk being injured by doing new things that I don't know how to do? Thanks x (also, any tips on hip flexibility?)
