Swap out octopus hooks for dropshot hooks and you will land more eagle claw has a hook similar shape that's cheap and works great

I do use clip on weights but not sure if I’m really a fan. I see for myself and others as well I seem to loose more fish when trying to take the clips off.
@walkingonwaterfishing

Yeah they are kinda funky. My clips clamp down and are not easy to release so I’m just gunna run the downriggers like I should have but hey it’s a constant learning experience for everyone!

I have 10 acres at Bridge Lake in the north Cariboo region of British Columbia I use 6 weight flyrods with big 10/11 salmon flyreels with leadcore line.....I outfish most downr riggers and long liners....nice limber 9 ft rods with backbone....the big reels are for faster pickup and are full of backing for same reason. Been getting some over 5lbs occasionally....Bridge lake is known....and moody

What hooks are using? Gamakatsu wide gap finesse hooks have made a huge difference for us, seldom lose a fish with them.

Size 4 big River bait hooks in this video! They were not the play. Drop shot hooks have worked well also. I will try the wide gap finesse as well

The sportsman side is good but you need to boat out the farthest left point. I was mainly on the honeysuckle side

42 degree surface temp you're running too deep. You should be in the top 10-15'.
@walkingonwaterfishing

the thing is when the water is cold the fish are anywhere from the surface like you are saying down to 70 ft deep! It was just a super slow day!
@chriszuccato5164

The fish will be where the zooplankton is which feeds on phytoplankton which blooms in sunlight and warmer water. In cold water temperatures I mark deep fish regularly, but they don’t play. The actively feeding fish are at the surface. As I watched the video I noticed you were catching on the shallower rod and especially on outside turns when it pulls shallower still.
@chriszuccato5164

The exception to this is with lakes like Chelan where they feed on Mysis shrimp instead of plankton because Mysis shrimp live on the bottom and suspend to feed.

@@chriszuccato5164 Yeah that makes sense ive studied the Zooplankton in our lake. alot of people even when cold chase the deeper markable fish and do very well. I like to do both chase the surface fish as well as the deep fish! Ive had alot of fish play in cold water deep on our lake up here
