You might take a look at the Oxi One, which offers a lot of Stepic’s functionality (as well as many of its own).

This sequencer on my computer does what $2k worth of modular gear does. So glad I can control my hardware synths through midi.

OK you two, part 4 is awesome. ⚠I watched until about minute 7 and then said inside: ey, not so fast, how did you just do that? Then I opened Live and rebuilt it with relish while I finished watching the video. I think I should have read the manual even better, the thing with the right-click was hidden from me on my MacBook trackpad. 👓🕶🤭

I was getting frustrated with so many sequencers always missing something like random choices, chords, automation, whatever. Stepic is a dream come true, absolutely love it. The UI is prefect and also the colors. Maybe next version give us some skin choices:) Thank you making this beauty.

This series of tutorials is just excellent. Thank you. However I have a question about the Chord Editor. Let's see I am in f minor and create a few chords. The green slider transpose the chords, however I am not 100% sure about this. When all green sliders are on green (F) all triads with F play ok. But when I create a C Minor chord (C Eb G) F is still active. So I hear 4 notes. I need to raise the green slider 1 step to G to create the Cm chord. When the green sliders are transposing, this is not correct for playing the Cm chord. I need to raise the slider to remove the f from the Cm chord. Although I understand that the root note is always on, but it would good that when you click the CHORD the root note will be disabled, so you can create the chords correctly, Perhaps in a next version, it would nice if the chord created will be shown. Would be a great bonus

At its core, Stepic is a monophonic step sequencer, with the pitch section serving as the reference source for note generation. Chord notes are then added to the pitch of each step. That's why the chord buttons are located directly under the pitch faders. The advantage of this method is that the intervals entered remain constant for each step and always transpose with the pitch. You can see this well when you change the pitch fader of a step where you've also entered chord notes. This way, your harmonic pattern remains intact even when make changes to the pitch sequence. To clarify from a technical perspective: Stepic stores chord information in semitone intervals relative to the pitch (e.g., -2, +3, +5), not as specific notes (C, C#, etc.).

How about a note delay setting on a chord note. Simulate a guitar strum.
@devicemeister

Interesting idea. However, I fear that this might overly complicate the chord editor. It would require the ability to set an individual delay for each note of the chord, wouldn't it?

I did not get in what case to use the retrigger. Anyone can give a use example?
@devicemeister
27 күн бұрын
By using retrigger, you introduce a different (rhythmic) signature into the sequence, as the start of the section sequence is always aligned with the start of the pattern playhead. You'll only notice this effect if you've set a different sequence length in the section where you've also activated retrigger. If the pattern and the section are the same length, retrigger has no effect, as their starting points always align. Generally, it's a matter of personal taste and what fits better with your track at the moment.
