NOTES: Overall I'm pretty pleased, but would like to see what sort of improvements you guys can come up with that I haven't thought of.
My criteria for a stomp box design, which I've never seen met by any one stomp box before this one:
Must have whomp, smack, and jingle
Must be played from a stool so I'm the same height as my band mates who stand
Must have good bottom end-a mic in the sound hole will shake the rafters on this one.
Must be quiet enough that I can play acoustic guitar and sing, and not be drowned out by it.
Must be able to be played with no electronics or amp if required.
Must be cheap and simple to build.
Don't advertise your stupid site or video, or I'll disable comments.
Please excuse:
-My bad playing and messing up the words. This was 1 take with 2 cameras.
-All the cheesy visual effects. I was playing around with i-movie, which I'm still learning.
-The bad sync job. I got as close as I could with the program I had.
The box measures about 26 long X 20 wide X 10" high. The sides are 5/8" ply that I braced a bit to make them more rigid. The sound hole is, according to a calculator I found on line, tuned to 90Hz. The top is 1/8" plywood. As you can see, the whole thing is painted flat black to blend in at a gig. The pedals are of 5/16" plywood(I incorrectly called them 3/8"). The snare is from Long and McQuade in Canada. The guitar strings under the snare are hot glued to a clamp for adjustment for best sound.
Cheers mates
