I just love looking back at these retro commercials and seeing how beautiful and real we were back then I pray that the sistas return to this level of respect for themselves

The good old days when black people could be articulate without being accused of 'talking white'...

The people that would accuse you of talking white, would be typically be from the South. Northerners and Southerners have always typically had different ways of speaking.

Sorry to tell you . Even then it was still bad being black. It has really never been good. from one side to the other! We never gave each other a break. They called you an uncle Tom then. Remember at that time we only got just a few spots a week to be on TV so we made the best of it. That was the time when it was getting a lot better because just a few years before this we were pretty much non existing on TV! wasn't till Dr King got shot that we started to be seen on TV

This really is a problem. You see, a lack of education among Black people has a lot to do with how other Blacks see it as "acting White". It is really ironic that Black peers have more to do with keeping other Blacks uneducated than anything else! It really isn't unexpected though-only God's Kingdom can solve the problems of racism, social injustice and poor education. Now, there is just more and more unrest. Not just among different races either.
