That's a real shame about Minime games. I loved Blades of the Shogun and the sequel. I didn't even know they had a new game out until I saw the gameplay footage and realised this is clearly from the Blades of the Shogun devs (perhaps that is reflective of why they have been struggling, because I love their games and didn't even know)

If you enjoy 'stealth pizzle' games (eg hitman) definitely check out their games.

Ultros definitely looks like the album cover to a 70's prog or Metal band. Makes me think of the comics Alejandro Judurowski wrote in collab with Moebius as well.

Really fun podcast! Interesting discussion on storytelling in games. I tend to like the tailored curated content type games, but there is really a charm to making your own story. In tailored content, the illusion of choice is not necessarily a bad thing when handled correctly and it doesn't promise too much. Also...I find that, Interestingly, if developers sort of hide the real choices that are important in the game, they can be more meaningful if when they have an effect. Still need to play Weird West and review it. Enjoyed the discussion :)

Really enjoyed the talk about the deep rock data mesh. I recently solved a game jam dilemma similarly - I simulated every pixel by making a simple 2D array and then drawing each data point in the array. Not the most difficult thing, but certainly felt like a breakthrough for my novice developer self.

The upside to making it a pirate podcast is that "Crew Cast" still works as a name

I was going to comment about Sid Meier's Pirates. Imagine my surprise when the emails came up. I forgot I did that, so thank you! Anyway, Pirates! is my favorite game, ever. Out of like 4000-ish games, which I think is a pretty good sample size. I think it would make a great fat sesh, though you might have to restart once or twice. As long as you use the Commodore 128 version or even the DOS version is okay. The NES one is more stylized but loses a little of the tension. Don't play the remake. It's good, but hard to get into without the frame of reference of the original.

"Fun" fact about Stalker I learned about while watching essays bc I was confused why people like it so much, they had to film it twice. After they where done filming they ducked up the film cause they didn't know how to develop it properly (new film roll that was used for other classic movies like Star Wars) so they had to reshoot the whole movie! Double the radiation! 🙈 Still don't know why it's liked so much btw, watched it in three sittings cause I was falling asleep all the time 😅 I kinda understand why other people like it, but its to slow for my sleepy ass 😂

Is there any particular reason for the name change to Crewcast? I only just noticed the change myself, but also noticed that the channel dropped views when the name change happened. Of course im in the minority watchimg a podcast on youtube, but I hope this change didnt effect viewership on other platforms.

Think it was because Danny wanted to acknowledge that the podcast's formula has finally established itself properly now after so long, and that's it's a group effort so the name reflects that.

@@DeadWhiteButterflies fair enough, I do vaguely remember Danny bringing that up in a previous podcast. Honestly though I've always seen NoClip as a group effort. Couldn't imagine it without the whole crew tbh
