I have the same one in nickel plated and matte black grips. It's fun to shoot and incredibly accurate. Looks really nice in a display case too.

Hi Paul. Thanks. I don't either generally but I'm interested in the design and development of guns from the old American west. I was really surprised when I discovered that you could get air pistol replicas. Cheers, Alan.

The grips on the Umarex colt 45 is a good half inch or more longer than on the real thing, due to it housing the co2 bulb and the screw to tighten it into place, the real Colts users must have had much smaller hands than we do as these larger grips are just about right for an adult male hand, tho the trigger guard is still small. Tip, never leave the co2 bulb in after putting it in and completing your shooting session as it will damage the seals in very short time. Tip, when placing the co2 bulb in the gun first put a spot of Pelgun Oil on the nipple of the bulb this helps keep the seals in good condition. You can make the grips heavier and less hollow sounding by pushing in Blue Tack and shaping it around where the bulb will fit, you Could also flatten some lead pellets and push these into the Blue Tack for extra weight. Tip, Never fan the hammer as it is a much softer metal than on a real gun and will damage the hammer and trigger action. Even the real guns would sustain damage from the fanning of hammers. Tip, if you have the pellet version with the rifled barrel do not fire steel BBs thru the gun as this will damage the internal barrel. Tip, only use silicon oil on the gun, you do not need to clean the barrel much as the graphite from the pellets ( its a dust people think is lead but isn't, its on the pellets to prevent them sticking together ) will blow thru the barrel from the co2 and pretty much keep the barrel clean like that.

I agree about the grips, they don't look or feel out of proportion to the rest of the pistol. If you compare it to an actual SAA you can see that they are larger. All good tips 👍👍 I run a few Remington Cleaning Pellets through my pistols occasionally, they do a pretty good job of keeping the barrels clean.

@@RetroSteamTech Great video!! I purchased the 7 1/2" barrel nickel version of this and the grips were indeed longer than my "old version" Ruger Vaquero in 45LC, their version of the "Peacemaker". Never like the grips on the Vaquero and when I got the Umarex I liked the way they felt. So, I started looking around, to find out that Texas Grips will sell you a set of walnut grips for the Vaquero that are 1/2" longer than stock. They fit great and that firearm now has grips that work for me!!

Really nice Alan. Another interest that we share. I have a number of air guns. The price on this one is quite reasonable and available on Amazon. May be one in my collection in the near future. 🤠

Hi Charlie. I've had it for about a month now and have put quite a few pellets through it. I really like it a lot. Seems to be very well made and you can get about 70 to 80 pellets to one gas cartridge easily. Appears to shoot a little high but then I believe that the original did too. Easily compensated for. I'm surprised that you would be interested in air guns as you are fortunate enough to have access to the real thing 👍🙂 Cheers, Alan.

If you can find some 4.5mm plastic BBs and you have the BB shells for the revolver then yes you can.

Hi Brian. When I was doing my research I came across the Pietta replica, I thought it looked rather strange. Although it does of course allow you to own one here in the UK. I've not seen the Uberti version but I will take a look. Thanks for the info. Cheers, Alan.

I do own one, STRANGE,, yes.the ejector rod has no purpose. You have to load the cylinder off the gun. But it looks and feels like a Peacemaker because it is, and it can be owned in restrictive environments.

Hi Rob. No, air guns, as long as they are under a certain power output do not require a license or secure storage. Once I realised that you could get these replicas as air guns I did quite a bit of research. While there are not many replicas of guns from the American Old West there are many replicas of modern firearms. All seems very strange as the modern replicas look almost identical to their firearm counterparts. Oh, I hope you don't mind but I've borrowed your welding apron background, seemed Ideal for the demonstration shots. Cheers, Alan.

@@RetroSteamTech Interesting Alan. They went a bit overboard in Oz when they heavily tightened gun laws here decades ago. Getting a suitable background for videos that won't send the aperature sensor crazy with certain colours is a bit of an issue shooting YT. The old apron is about right, but it's getting a bit dirty, and that's the clean side ;) Cheers Rob

@@Xynudu Because the pistol is shiny I was finding it difficult to get the right background. The apron is ideal, I might have to get another one just for videos. I don't do any welding but I use the apron when grinding and casting aluminium, pretty essential bit of safety kit. Cheers, Alan.
