Umbilicoliths ( "navel stones," "umboliths," or "omphaloliths") are accumulations of keratinous material (dead skin) sebum (skin oil) and dirt in the umbilicus (belly button). Umbolith removal is performed by simply applying traction to the stone to remove it from its attachment to the skin. They are rarely a cause for medical concern. Mostly, they just inspire people to clean their umbilicus regularly.
