@99thJediWarrior

Honestly, this movie shows that neither men or women are perfect. But let's be honest, Shantae was doing way too much. All because a man said he was working late (and was, considering his position at his job). Her ego went up to 1k, couldn't even be happy for her friend who followed her advice. That and she was particularly arrogant to think that she could control our boy Keith. He literally did nothing wrong (save for listening to his 'friend'). Also, I'm starting to see how many of these films all had like a main character addressing the audience like it's Shakespeare. How To Be a Player and Two Can Play That Game.
@driafibromyalgiafighter9342
Жыл бұрын
Be honest tho. Keith had ulterior motives when he LIED to say he was working late just to go out with a female coworker who he obviously found attractive. He would've tried his hand if that female coworker gave him a chance, and he CONFIRMED that when his homeboy asked him about it. Chante KNEW who her man was... she knew what was up 🤷♀️🙃🤣
@99thJediWarrior
Жыл бұрын
@@driafibromyalgiafighter9342 The keyword in your reply is "would've". And as a great R&B singer once said: "Shoulda. Woulda, Coulda", but apparently he didn't, did he? Anything could have happened, but we don't know that. Another keyword: "coworker". Is it that hard to think that she could be just that to Keith? A coworker? They could've just been talking business. And you have to remember that we are seeing this from Shantae's POV. Of course, it'll look bad to her. There is such a thing as an "unreliable narrator" in many stories. We can only ever see her POV on this because it's her story. She doesn't know what was happening between Keith and his coworker, but she just assumed. Which ultimately leads to the craziness in this film. And as we saw, Shantae was wrong for most of this movie. She tried to control Keith when he really did nothing wrong aside from listening to his friend. Did he know about all her rules? No. Did Shantae even consider that maybe he really had to work late? Nope. Was he cheating on her? Nyet.
@driafibromyalgiafighter9342

@99thJediWarrior I'm speaking on EXACTLY what Keith and Tony talked about...not Chantes POV. Another stellar review from our good sis! You ate this one up. Chante was just as Childish, all of these rules & effort when you could just be human, the lack of communication was real. All of those rules just for nothing at all to work & just to keep moving the goal post. For Keith to even be upset that she left with that man after he was playing the same childish game with her is crazy. He was bullshitting in the beginning & then couldn't handle the nonsense that she was putting onto him Amazing cast, amazing storyline, & the looks were looking.

Yasss!!!!! I watched this movie faithfully when I was in middle school and some of the girls were calling themselves taking her advice, lol. This is the classic Hurt people hurt people movie. Shante and Keith both hurt each other to get each other in line. What I took from this movie in my adult years of course, I learned that it’s ok to not know everything and it’s ok to be vulnerable to your friends. Now I am with her about receiving bad advice, especially Keith getting bad advice from Tony. If they would’ve communicated properly (and especially if Keith didn’t bring ol girl to their spot), they wouldn’t have to play games with each other. The best observation from you was if her friends saw how Keith and Shante was having issues, why did they continue to take her advice? Love this breakdown! 😂 ❤ your commentary, I almost broke a nail to hit play! This is one of favorite ebony films. Shante’ is portraying as an alpha female who strategizes her relationship like her career, so she meets her match(Keith). Now Keith is an arrogant player in his mind god gift to women, flashback scene where they 1st met @ the club w/ his approach. Keith wanted Shante’ to come by the office so he can give her some act right & later on hang out w/ the co-worker. Why we ask Shante’ favorite restaurant? Bc Shante’ no longer point guard he scouting a rookie & putting it in her face either she accept it or get off the bench. Narcissistic but real mind of a player. Keith always been self absorbed that he was really mad that Shante’ reaction was kool, remember he the “prize”. Shante’ solidified it at the end by asking him to come back even though he didn’t sleep w/ Connie, which was a buffer but he didn’t go to (Shante’)house.

@@aspyn.j_but there was no evidence of him cheating, that's like feeding a dog a steak and expecting it to eat the dry food, what so you think the dog is gonna go for? It's so manipulative and silly

When you look at, poor Keith was just a bystander in tony and Chante childish games. Poor baby ain't got a mind of his own. 😂

One of my favorites and I can quote it, feel you on watching it all time, the part when Connie comes to see Marcus and Shantae says oh yeah he is up there and then looks at the camera and say B****, omg top tier funny, it never gets old 😂😂😂...great video

In the words of DJ Khaled "Another one". You did it again babygirl. Another classic that I loved since a Kid. Now you have to do "The Brothers" especially since they both came out in the same year. I thought Keith was a good brother forreal he just human like the next but in a fairness he didn't even cheat on Shante' or disrespect her too bad until he got with Connie, and speaking of Connie, Gabrielle Union played her a lil too good 🤣 Lastly, I kinda wish Keith would've smashed the light skinned chick while Shante' was tripping and Anthony Anderson made this as well. That "go to church!!! gets me everytime 🤣

This movie is not toxic at all. I love this movie 100 times better than Love and Basketball. I hate that movie. That movie is really toxic.
