I mean, if you watch his normal delivery (first 2-3 pitches covered in the video), you see that his left foot acts as essentially a small pivot motion to contact the rubber. However during the illegal delivery, his left foot leave the ground, and leaves contact with the rubber. This is a case of 1) Ump actually calling it correctly, and 2) Nestor doing something wacky, and it backfiring on him because he established his own natural motion earlier in the at bat.

I'm not sure whether or not the rulebook supports Laz's ruling, but I agree with it regardless. What the pitcher did looked illegal. It's not OK to take little hop steps on the mound in order to quick-pitch. If I was home plate umpire, I'd have given him a 2-minute minor penalty for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. 🤔

Hey Jomboy you need to check out bottom of the 2nd inning in yesterday's O's game. The ump changed his mind and I have no idea what happened.

I think the ump is right, but this was really close. This is why Nestor has gotten so good. He messes with the batters so much with his weird delivery and changing speeds. I've gotta say I didn't predict him becoming this good.

MLB wants offense so badly that in a few more years we will come full circle back to how it was played when it began- the batter told the pitcher where he would like the ball to be thrown and the pitcher tried to oblige.

Nestor is that annoying kid who puts his finger an inch from your face and then loudly declares, “I’m not touching you!”

Please do a video on what Laz did last night to the Orioles calling a clear strike as a ball!

I just find it funny that after pitchers were slow to the brink of scandal, this one messed up trying to be quick about it.

Quick pitching or slow pitching a batter is bush league crap. Off-speed pitches are also bush league crap. Pitchers should wind up and throw with the same speed each time.
