I was at a Circle K on Arizona Ave in Chandler, he was at the front of the line, I did a "Charlie Murphy!" like Rick James, he looked back and smiled, sadly he died just a few months later.

Love seeing people point this out! So many have envy & jealousy in a situation like that but charlie was a beautiful person & it made him feel bigger instead of smaller, it made him full of love not hate & that's how it should be. You have to credit Eddie as well for not changing & alienating people! It made him feel better to see his loved ones benefit from his success which again is the way it should be! I'm rambling but I love both of them & I can't imagine how bad it hurts Eddie. RIP Charlie

I love how true he was to himself. His circumstances changed but he knew exactly the role he needed to play because he'd played it all his life. I love how well he expresses the terms of the incident and then he calmly explains why he had to whip somebody's ass. It's so effortlessly funny. We miss you bro!

In 2004 or 05 husband and I bought his little brother Chappelle’s Show on DVD for Christmas. Because this is the sort of stuff big brothers do, he decided to open the DVD and watch it before giving it to my brother in law as a gift. That is when we first saw the unaired Charlie Murphy segments. We were so happy we opened that DVD before gifting it. We talk and laugh about watching Charlie Murphy on that DVD to this day!

If anybody wants to experience more of these stories, go out and get yourself a copy of Charlie's book Making of a Stand-Up Guy. You can find thrifted copies on ebay for like $5. It's 100% worth a read. That's about as close to more Charlie Murphy as we're ever gonna get sadly. RIP
