Yeah i notice if ANYTHING is cheap people buy it alot so they double sometimes triple the price. I was so poor last year i made grill cheeses and bought cereal but now, my total amounts to over $35 for same items.

The cost of groceries world wide is getting ridiculous. I live in Ontario Canada and it cost me $121 for 3 packs of deli meat, a cooked small chicken, a cucumber, a brick of cheese, two buns, cherry tomatoes and a bag of chips…. This food will last me a week if I am conservative with my meals. So the government is saying basically for 1 person to feed themselves for a month is going to cost that person around $400-500 per month

Grocery stores have thin margins. Minimium wage is 15/hr but what really drives up the price is the rent + utilities that the store has to pay in order to keep everything running. Last big thing is shipping the stores vendors have to pay a truck driver to bring everything to the store. Truck driver pay + Diesel. Diesel isn't cheap in NYC.

Nyc is definitely not a food desert. There are parts that are in the edges like bad parts of the Bronx. In general the city has more food than the suburbs. You go to markets like Essex and you don't even know where to start with all the kinds of stuff that you wouldn't even know existed.
